My gun is currently all stripped down and at the gunsmith getting bead blasted. I am thinking about having him install a set screw on the strain screw, any of ya'll ever done this? I have it on one of my revolvers and love it.

I've seen it done but don't know why. The set screw will chew up the threads of the strain screw. If you want to lock the strain screw in place, just use blue loctite.

I have done it on my K-38. The trick is to use a short length of brass rod just slightly smaller than the diameter of the hole you've drilled and tapped for the set screw. Drop it down the hole then tighten the set screw down on top of it. There's no damage what so ever done to the strain screw if it's set up in this fashion.
