It seems that yesterday (07-15) a fellow named Barry Bahrami out of Carlsbad, CA. filed a referendum request with the formerly great state of California. This referendum, if successful, would overturn the draconian anti-Second Amendment laws signed by Jerry Brown July 1.
The nice thing about this is, if he is successful in gathering the signatures, that act puts the new laws on hold until the initiative can actually be voted on. He has 90 days to gather 365,880 valid signatures. If he can get them in by the final date of Sept 29 the local officials have 38 days to verify the signatures which would put the issue on the upcoming November ballot.
The odds on this are less than 50-50, but I know I am going to get a few copies of the petition as soon as I can, and even send in a couple of bucks to help the cause.
I just did a little more digging on this, they are technically Referendum and not initiatives. There are six of them, one tied to each piece of legislation signed into law. The SecState will be done with them around July 25, after which they will be available for circulation, assuming they pass legal muster.
