Texas congressman, Rep. Steve Stockman, made the following statement yesterday regarding plans to control guns by executive order:

"I will seek to thwart this action by any means necessary, including but not limited to eliminating funding for implementation, defunding the White House, and even filing articles of impeachment. Any proposal to abuse executive power and infringe upon gun rights must be repelled with the stiffest legislative force possible. Under no circumstances whatsoever may the government take any action that disarms any peaceable person — much less without due process through an executive declaration without a vote of Congress or a ruling of a court."

God Bless Texas!

If you have a gun or two, and a working set of cojones, come on down. We'll order up a Lone Star and a bowl of Texas Red.

Texas may be a good option. Though I will admit that most of my time there was spent visiting a friend attending the Aerospace program at the University of Texas - Arlington.

Did like the area, and I have a great deal of respect for the attitude Texas is taking in regards to the Second Amendment.

Come on down, you're always welcomed.

Any potential impeachment will go nowhere unless and until the Senate goes into GOP hands. Apparently no matter how blatant the issue is, the Democrats will vote along party lines. That was proven when Clinton lied to us and his party backed him up. I felt after the recent Democratic convention and Bill Clinton's stirring speech that the GOP should have had someone play Clinton in a commercial and have him say "Have I ever lied to you?"

One thing that makes my blood run cold when I think about it is President Obama gets to nominate two Supreme Court Justices in the next four years. This could turn the court progressive for several years.

The President believes he has a mandate. Further, he believes he does not have to negotiate or compromise. IMO he is a lousy negotiator. He will decide what he wants to do and he will try and do it. I hope he does not provoke a constitutional crisis, but if he does I hope he does it under the current court.

Thanks for the invitation!

Masters Degree (MBA) will be complete in May, one more surgery (date unknown, waiting on Dept of Labor approval) that will fuse half my neck into a single piece, and then I can go anywhere I choose as I have few ties in Oklahoma.

Texas just might be an option.

Now that is an action I will support... regardless of the outcome of the current 'crisis'.

I agree that impeachment proceedings will likely go nowhere. But at least it will go in the Congressional Record for ever.
And I heard that Carter is also very happy lately: he knows he will no longer go down in history as the worst president this country has ever seen.

God Bless Texas.. but I also remember the ads down there a few years ago... "Come on down and enjoy.. Just don't forget to go home.." LMAO...
When you're in DFW, its Cowboys in Arlington on Wed (Ladies night), Red River in the 12 loop on Thursday night (best Texas brisket in the parking lot) and it just keeps getting better into the weekend...
If you got a real Texan for a friend, you've got a friend for life... and the women are a triple threat... great place.

I think Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) pretty well summed it up yesterday when he addressed the executive order idea,
"If the President is allowed to suspend constitutional rights on his own personal whims, our free republic has effectively ceased to exist."
He forgot about "We the People" and WE are not sheep...to be led or slaves that obey. If he does not hear...there is volume control. We are still the last line of defence of the constitution....we are also the strongest line of defence .....and all of us hope that never becomes necessary. The Government may forget that they have a constitution that limits the power they have....and they need to be careful about over reaching to the point that the People have had enough. Not to be Infringed is easy to understand.

I applaud congressman's statement.
But with all due respect, could my Texas friends explain what's going on in real Texas life?

CJ Grisham will be pursuing this in court. he put up a web site asking for donations to fight this in court...He exceeded his needs by a lot and the justice system will deal with it....I think they are going to wish, they had just left him alone....he was not bothering anyone.
He has a healthy defence fund and this will be interesting.

All that is peachy. But actions of police (unlawful as far as I can see) speak louder than political statements. There should not be any litigation. But an apology from the police department to which these constitution "protectors" belong is long overdue. Probably won't happen because the department by now works in "protect my own butt" mode coming up with some additional false accusations.

I'm no Obama fan, but we need to come up for air on this Executive Order thing. An executive order is a very clearly defined item, and it amounts to no more that an administrative policy. They do not carry the same weight as law, and by law an executive order cannot be used as de facto legislation. Thus, it cannot be used to implement legislation that a sitting president cannot get passed in the House or Senate. Additionally, it cannot violate the United States Constitution so it cannot be used to by-pass the USSC.

That little press conference that Obama held a while back when he was signing an EO that reorganized the ATF should have been taken as a clear sign that the Feinstein legislation was going nowhere, and that he was bluffing and counting on the ignorance of Americans to make it appear that he had more support or power than he actually did. He might as well have had a press conference where he signed an EO that set up quotas on how much toilet paper that can be used by the DOJ during any given fiscal year. We need to look at any of our elected officials who claim to be defenders of the Constitution with suspicion if they are so ignorant of their own government's internal workings that they do not know what an EO actually is.

Executive Orders (EO's) are matters of public record, and can easily be researched. They are numbered one-up sequentially, and the series is not dependent upon the President in office. EO's are presently being numbered in the 19K series. I've seen some urban legends and internet paranoia postings that indicate that there are some 10K and 11K series EO's that are attributed to Obama, and supposedly refer to secret FEMA camps and the like. The EO's in question were actually issued by JFK, pertained to routine government policy, and had to do with the Department of Education or some such agency - but they had nothing to do with Obama. I have also read on the internet that Obama has issued more EO's than any other president. FDR actually issued the most EO's, and Reagan and Bush II both issued more than Obama.

We've got to stop buying off on all the fictions we keep reading on the internet, and we've got start asking what agenda those who keep spreading these lies actually have. Just because they say they are our friends does not mean we should just automatically trust them - in fact, we should be puckering when our "friends" are telling us lies. Arm yourselves with knowledge, not fiction.
