Radio silence.

I'll be damn, but Rusty called me and I'm still talking to him.

He said as soon as he woke up he was telling jokes making the nurses laugh.
It's downright inspirational to read this! Thanks for keeping us updated, and please let Rusty know we're all pulling and praying for him... :)

Superman ain't got nothing on Rusty!

Rusty wanted me to share this with y'all.

"I met with the surgeon post-op.
She unpacked a steamer trunk of happiness on me.
She got ALL of the tumor. She analyzed my urine and there are no signs of pancreatic juices which means the sutures in my stick of butter are holding and my catheter comes out tomorrow. She took out my nasal gastric tube as my stomach is clear.
She is taking me off the morphine pump as I am using it less and less and replacing it with low dosage oxy.
She put me back on insulin, my sleep meds and a liquid diet. She also prescribed chewing gum as it is good at restoring stomach and bowel activity.
She also said it is uncommon for a patient to undergo recovery as I have.

Ruthie drove an hour and 20 minutes home just to get my tablet.

We both wept for joy."

He should be online in a few hours!

Rusty, outstanding news, my friend! While I can't wait until you're back on the forum, really hoping you get back on solid foods soon. You've crushed your recovery, so far. Keep it up! Always thinking of you and your family. Give them a hug and a kiss today. Then the next day and the next and the next and so on. Still pulling for you every way I know how. Let's get you back to terrorizing the other Walmart shoppers with your crocs and pajama pants!

I will be under blackout conditions soon as at 0400 I will be heading downtown to the mother ship for my Whipple surgery scheduled for 0730 followed by ICU, a painful hospital stay and then a lengthy recovery at home.

They stopped all treatment 6 weeks ago as my numbers are where they need to be and my tumor has shrunken to where it is now far enough away from the artery that this can be done roboticaly which is far less invasive. I won't be ingesting nutrients for several days so my rearranged innards can begin to knit together. The surgeon said this is because the pancreas is thin skinned and to imagine putting sutures into a stick of butter.

I have long anticipated this surgery as it inches me closer to the brass ring which is to gain a large measure of wholeness and a few more years with my wonderful family in our forever home. I am no stranger to pain and have a high threshold for it and I will gladly endure it to regain a large degree of normalcy.

Every invasive procedure and surgery I have experienced I was blanketed by His grace and felt no worry or anxiety and such is the case now.

Ruthie will keep in contact with Fred (old bear), John (hsguy) and Kevin (wood714) with updates.

When the time comes that I feel lucid enough I will re-engage with my magic glass portal.

Until then I'll see ya when I see ya.
Warrior!!! Peace and Blessings upon you Brother and your Family.
