YouTube - Elton John -LIVE- A Word In Spanish - Rare - 1988
Hear Sir Elton John sing his famous song, one of his few that I really like. His only one that I like better is, "Candle in the Wind", both the original devoted to Monroe and the version for Princess Diana. (I believe that the latter has sold more "singles" than any other music in history.)
But my new "word in Spanish" is, "apunalamientos,", posted by a sergeant in the Guardia Civil in Madrid, on one of the Ruger boards. My keyboard won't do accent marks, but there's a squiggle one above the first "n".
It means, "fatal stabbings". He says that they're having more of those (and shootings) in Madrid. Crime is a thriving business all over, I guess.
But I now have a new Spanish vocabulary word! I think the root word was "punal", their word for "dagger."
A friend in Barcelona, who confirmed what I thought was the meaning while the guy in Madrid wasn't on that board said, "Those gun boards always have the most cheerful things to discuss!" I think she was teasing...
The guy in Madrid said that it is still much less dangerous there than being in the Basque country. I guess that everything is relative.
