AB 357, by Steven Knight, (R), Palmdale would make California a shall-issue state. It is being supported by, among other groups, PINK PISTOLS, a lesbian pro-Second Amendment group whose motto is"Armed Gays Don't Get Bashed." It is being proposed as a fairness and equality think by many and is of course vehemently opposed by many police managers (as opposed to r&f police officers). You never know, with this eclectic support it might go somewhere,

Just took a look at it. One question I have is: the definition of "good moral character". Does that mean one must attend church every Sunday? Will that be left to the Sheriff to decide, much as it is now? I can see it now. He called in sick to work two years ago to take his 9 year old, termanilly ill son to a baseball game. He lied to his boss, he does not have "good moral character".

Hi Robert....

I too am hopeful, but will be surprised if it goes any where here. I know that Knight has introduced similar bills before and failed. I give him lots of credit for trying!

Our Gov would probably "terminate" it if by some miricle it got to his desk.

I shall remain hopeful though.

Best

Bob

Not only do I think it will die in the safety committee, but if it makes it through all the hoops it will be changed from "shall issue" to doj may veto the local sheriff decisions. The legislators may just be baiting us....they are masters of it.

I hate to be a cynic but knowing our legislature as I do, I must agree with PPS. If it doesn't die in committee our "girlie man" gubernator will kill it. Our "conservatives" are worse than most Liberals elsewhere. Nevertheless I've alread written the letters and made the calls.

I'd be very very, very suspicious about anything concerning guns coming from the CA legislature.

I fled California almost 30 years ago and have no regrets. Now that we have HR-218, I love visiting family in Santa Cruz and carrying everywhere I go.
