I have been remiss in informing you that we lost 1Aspenhill - Bill Patteson, on Jan 12, 2022.
Bill was "Mr. Heavy Duty", and was always willing to share data with this board and help people learn about their guns.
A thread was started in the SWCA Lounge April 21 asking if anyone had heard from Bill. Many of us had been calling and emailing since the first of the year with no replies. Finally, on June 27, a member stated he had found his obituary. Earlier searches by some of us had not revealed it. I think it was posted quite some time after his death.
I guess the shock stunned me so that it did not occur to me to inform the public side. Bill was a friend, and I hated to hear it.

I will miss him. We are all greatly diminished.

Bill started me on the HD road, traded lots of emails, and I own one of his "surplus" post war guns.

Great guy, always sharing his expertise and so very helpful to so many here.

The forum is very greatly diminished.

Condolences to his family and loved ones.

Bill and I traded a few emails when I was in the market for a HD. I hit him on email from the link on his website based on advice from this forum. He was incredibly helpful and patient. And I ended up with a nice example thanks to his sage advice.

Never met him but I'm quite sure the world is all the poorer for his passing and heaven all the richer.

...a great loss to the shooting community....

His writings interested me in getting a HD in my birth year, 1952... Found a very nice 4" that had seen very little use. In his collection is a LNIB 1952 that was made a week before I was born...

He will be missed...Bob

I met Bill not long after I joined the S&WCA and quickly became friends. I have missed seeing him at Tulsa and wondered what had happened to him.
I am saddened by this news.
Our group is diminished by his absence.
