Just got a new SD40 VE and am wondering if there is a sleeve made for the butt to add some cusion. Anyone know of one? Also a good holster.

Try Hogue for the grip. IMO holsters are a personal preference. When I go holster shopping I try it on with my firearm. If your LGS won't let you do that or bring it back. Take your money else where.

You can make a "custom" sleeve by cutting a section of bicycle inner tube and slipping it over the grip.

Hogue large frame slip on fits good, after a touch of trimming off the top.

As for holster...OWB, go with a Blackhawk SERPA. IWB, go with a Kholster for about $45, or Supertuck for double the cost for basically the same holster.
