First off, I love my 629-5 (6 inch barrel). I have piled up some decent factory ammunition for it now ( Remington 275 grain hp core loks, American Eagle 240 grain hp, Winchester wb 240 grain fp, Remington 180 grain fp... wow what a noisy fire ball, magtech 240 grain fp). I have tried a couple of these so far ( AE, rem cores and 180, magtech).

Question: what is considered to be competent accuracy with this gun? Ive shot up to 25 yards so far. I have less than 130 rounds of experience. From 10 to 15 yards, I can shoot fairly quickly (sa)with a good pattern. I am not really concerned there. When I get to 25 yards, I'm still putting them into the paper (slowly shooting) within 4 or 5 inches of one another. What would yall consider to be pretty good at that distance? I'm not looking to go pro or anything, just competent for woods carry and the occasional conceal carry.Strangely, i seem more of a natural shot with this gun than my normal carry full size 1911 ( from what I can remember when i started getting into handguns) even shooting decenty quickly ( more strange). Sight radius may help. I'm equaling or bettering what i do with my 1911 ( except when shooting quite vigorously into a target, which is to be expected at my level of experience) ...

I would recommend trying each brand from a rest shooting single action to find out the guns accuracy and the preferred ammo , then offhand to shoot as good as the gun does ! I can't always shoot almost as good as the gun anymore but I always take one of my 29's or 629's with me to the range . Also I never saw one really not shoot good and a 2 1/2" -3" at 25 yds. is pretty good and a 5" at 100 is very good to . Happy shooting !

You might want to try Remington's 240 grain gas check. I find this is an accurate load in both my 6" 629 and the 6.5" 29 in my above video.

WHAAAAAAAT! That was awesome. Impressive sir. Ill give the gas checks a try... but I think actually hitting that m&m requires more than good ammo!

Bubba can shoot.
If you can shoot a consistent 5" group in double action at 25 yards you will be outshooting most guys at the range. The bullseye guys are a different breed. And Bubba is blessed with something that i wish i had.

Well said, Dave.

I currently am keeping them pretty close, 6-7inches, id say, is my average at 25. My last one of that day was under 4, so I ended on a good note on that box (I was out besides my carry ammo, or I would've kept shooting). Also, next time ill hold the gun a bit higher up on the grip. I was also told that'd help. I am just so used to having a slide coming back I guess :)

Right on. You are shooting very respectable groups. I shoot at a large public range quite often and our shortest distance is 25 yards. I think that is a great distance because you have to work on technique if you want to consistently hit the target. My DA groups are similar to yours. It depends on the day and caffeine consumption. I took about 6 weeks off and its surprising how quickly things went downhill. The 22 shooting is fine but im working back to the 357. Oh well.
Enjoy!
Dave
