Been reading a bit about Accurate #2. Looks like it could be a good easy-metering, low-smoke choice for 38 targets, HBWC's and plated DEWC's. Anyone with experience here?

It does meter well. A buddy shoots it a lot in medium .45 ACP loads. It seems like it is a good alternative to Bullseye, Winchester 231, etc. these days, in that it is available, where the others are scarce.

Acc #2 like Bullseye , W231 , WST & 700X are all capable of producing accurate target ammo . IIRC 2.8 - 2.9 #2 with a 148 HBWC shot good .

I shot about 12# in target loads for the last 20 years, 9 MM, 38 spl, 40 S&W, 45 ACP. Meters accurately with consistent charge weight. Last time I bought a jug it was $160 for 8#.

As folks have already said, it meters very well. I like it for .38 special and .45 auto. I believe it’s closer to Bullseye than W231 in terms of burn rate.

I bought several pounds a while back, then inherited a nearly full 8# jug of Bullseye. As soon as I finish that, I’m going back to the AA #2.

During the last ammo and component shortage I went through a couple of pounds of AA #2 in .38 Spl, 9X19, and .45ACP practice ammo with cast bullets. I was pleased with the results.

Like many other powders on the faster-burning end of the spectrum the usual charges are quite small and pressures tend to build very rapidly. User caution is encouraged.

I bought a 6 lb keg of surplus some years back and have experience with it. It flows like water through a measure. It has been my first choice in 9mm and has shot well in 44 special and 45 acp. I average about 1 1/2" smaller groups with 38 wadcutters at 25 yards with Bullseye than AA2. This is with a mod 14, 15, DW 15 and a Blackhawk. Great powder but for me it wasn't the answer for wadcutters.

I agree with the above. It meters great, isn’t position sensitive and is very clean in all loads. I’m using it mainly in 38 special but have tried it in 45 acp and several other cartridges and find it an excellent powder.

I believe it’s slightly slower than Bellseye if I remember correctly.

Another very good powder is Accurate Niiro 100NF. It’s slightly faster than Bullseye and has softer recoil in comparable loads, burns very clean, very economical, isn’t position sensitive and works great in 380 up to 45LC.

Very informative Thread. I see Scheels gets Accurate #2
once in awhile. They had some several weeks ago.
Now that I know it is a good Pistol powder, I won’t
be passing that up, to add to my other powders.

I’ll have to read up on Accurate #2 in my Handloader
Magazines.

Thanks again for all.

I load it behind 148 gr DEWCs in 38 Special. Works well. IMO a good alternative to Bullseye or even W 231.
