just acquired a very nice 5" nickel 27-2 that has a little bit of red paint on the front sight. I am used to using acetone for removing this on blued guns but not nickel. Will acetone damage the finish?
Acetone shouldn't harm nickel, stainless or blued guns.
Keep it away from the grips though.
. . . and your nose and skin!
I have had several "blue light" treatments on my face to treat Sun damage, pre skin cancer spots. The first part is they clean the skin on your face with acetone on cotton balls. It removes all the oils, etc prior to the application of the reactive cream and then under the uv light for about 12 minutes. Your face feels like it is on fire afterwards.then have to stay inside for3 days.
Use your sunscreen so you don't have to go through this when you get old! Not fun. If acetone won't hurt your skin it shouldn't hurt nickel.
I would assume you are using medical or surgical grade acetone on your face. I don't know the difference in the compounds sold under the name but the commercial stuff has been outlawed in a lot of industries as cancer causing.
