You can wash your cotton cloths in a 5 gallon bucket or a shop sink . You don't have to use a washing machine .

My father had a piece of "army blanket" he used for years to wipe down his gun after hunting.
Heavy wool, it held oil and did the job.

I've been using the 12 packs of microfiber clothes from china freight. They seem soft and do a good job when I polish guns or stocks. I shoukd look to see what they are made of. When on sale they're like $4 for 12.
