This bill, SB 1966 with House Committee Amendment 1, is yet another attempt by Illinois State Representative Kathleen Willis to punish lawful gun owners by turning the FOID card into a punitive measure, it would require fingerprints at your expense, an in-person visit to an Illinois State Police location that will be inconveniently located - no matter where you live, and a drastic increase in fees

If you follow the link above to the ILGA website and read the bill, be aware that the amendment completely changes the bill to be an anti-gun bill that has no more content regarding Public Defenders or Bail.

This bill is scheduled to be called for a hearing tomorrow in the House Judiciary - Criminal Committee.

ISRA Legislative Alert - SB1966 with House Committee Amendment 1 - May 21, 2019





Representative Kathleen Willis became the house sponsor of SB 1966, originally titled "PUBLIC DEFENDER BAIL PROGRAM", and is using it as the vehicle for her anti-gun initiative "FIX THE FOID ACT" under House Committee Amendment 1. It's a complete rewrite, nothing remains of the original bill.

This bill just passed out of the House Judiciary - Criminal Committee Hearing held today, on a partisan vote. It is now headed for a vote on the House Floor.

It is critical that you call your State Representative now and urge that they not support this bill, SB1966, as amended, in a floor vote.

Emotions can run high when thinking about legislation to remove your rights. Please remember that you will be talking to a staff person for the representative and your roll here is not to try to debate that person, and their roll is simply to take your information. They will be keeping a tally to give to the representative, so keep it brief, polite and understandable.

ISRA Informational Alert - SB1966 held in Senate Judiciary Committee - Bill will not be called


In Wednesday's House session, SB1966. , Kathleen Willis' infringing "Fix The FOID" bill, passed on a floor vote and went back to the Senate for concurrence on the three amendments.

There was a Senate Judiciary Hearing yesterday but the bill was not called, the amendments were "held in committee".

Today there was a Senate Judiciary Hearing without SB1966 being considered.

The bill will remain held in this committee, and the spring legislative session will end at Midnight without passage of this bill in the Illinois Senate.

Thank you for your efforts during this legislative session, your support was vital in halting this dangerous legislation.

EVERY IL MEMBER needs to be a member of the IL State Rifle Assoc and have get all the notices and act on them.
