I was amazed. Went in to buy some junk and wandered over to the "Gun Dept"

They had Win White Box 9mm and some Federal which was $9 and change.

But most amazing was .380 Auto Win White box.

We are so far South on the food chain, never thought I'd see ammo in Waly Mart again.

I was at my local Wal-Mart three days ago. They had .25, .32, .38, .38+P, .357, .44 Mag, 9mm, .40, and .45 ammo in great quantities.

There were four choices for 9mm ammo, including RWS, Federal, Winchester 50 round boxes and 100 round value boxes. The Federal ammo was $9.97 per box.

The only rounds they didn't have was .380, but Bass Pro Shops had 25 boxes of Winchester white box (50 rounds each) priced at $16.95 each.

Within two blocks of each other, I could get any handgun ammo I wanted. Fortunately, I didn't want or need any. When ammo is available, reasonable in current price (not gouging), and yet we don't actually need any...then that should put an end to the lack of ammo.

Here in Portland I recently stopped at a BiMart (local variety chain) and there shelves were very well stocked with all calibers. I was amazed that a few rifle calibers wee even on an overstock special. Primers were there also.

Ammo seems to be more plentiful now. I am just waiting for next year when .45 ammo disappears.

In the past month or more i have noticed that my local Walmart started actually having ammo in stock!

They now carry their full selection of everything centerfire in stock i can imagine. They used to only have my 40 S&W in stock but now its 357 sig, 380 auto, 9mm, 40 S&W they have the Winchester white box JHP and FMJ as well as the federal ammunition.

I get 50 round boxes of Winchester Range Target ammo for $17 and the 100 round box is only like $32

I never see .45 there though and they seem to always have rifle rounds in stock.

About 2 months ago it would be rare to see any handgun rounds in stock except maybe a box or two of the 40 S&W that i use, but now it seems someones manufacturing the butts off.

Twenty percent unemployment rate. The economy, etc.
I guess people need food and shelter more than ammo.

Lots of ammo at my local Wal-Mart in Grants Pass,Or.2 months ago +---very little.3 kinds of .22 alone. The price is doubled what it was when ammo was plentiful before. :(

Here in southern Mo. our local wal-mart (not a super center), has just about quit restocking ammo when it runs out. the selection is pitiful. I just either go to pawn shops or gun shops to find what I need, and I have had pretty good luck. I only buy .357 .38 .22 and .25, 12 ga. shells are still plentiful though because I guess there are so many hunters around here.

The Walmart by me has ammo in desired calibers about 15 minutes every two weeks. I think they no longer qualify as the Redneck Mall :D

Wally-World here never has ammo unless your there when they put it on the shelf. I get luckey once in awhile.

A buddy called Wednesday evening to tell me that a nearby WalMart had a bunch of WWB .45ACP on the shelf as of 5PM. I didn't get there until Thursday afternoon, and there was still plenty in stock, at about $33/100. They also had a bunch of WWB .40S&W at an attractive price. Maybe the shortages are easing. My local ma & pa gunshop now even has most sizes of primers in stock, albeit allocating only small lots to regular customers.
