Ha!...not at my Gander Mtn.
What he does when he takes a gun in is, he looks it up in the Blue Book and goes straight to the "Excll. 100%" column and prices it at that value (and sometimes over that.)
Problem is...the gun could be in about 50-60% cond., and he still prices it at 100%. I can't begin to tell you how many shotguns & rifles I've picked up off the rack that were broken!
And the guys he has working back there in the gun dept. are real pieces of work. A few weeks ago I asked to look at a Ithaca NID Grade 2 that was behind the glass and was priced (what else?) way too high and when I pointed out that the barrels had been sleeved at some point in its life, the nimrod proceeds to tell me "oh no...that's the way they joined the barrels on shotguns back then." I didn't even bat an eyelash, 'cause I knew it would've been futile to try to convince him otherwise.
When I was young I would usually correct the guys behind the counters, but as I grew older I learned it was better to just humor them.
Sorry for the rambling....
