Just a few pics, in case anyone wanted to see how the Surefire X300 mounts/looks/balances on the TA - picked this up today at my LGS. Nice guys, had both the Surefire and the Streamlight - there seem to be proponents of both on the old interweb, but I went ahead with the Surefire on the shop's recommendation. Yes, I know it's more cost/more profit for them, but they are a solid LGS, I am a regular customer and they rarely (if ever) steer me wrong.

Mounting was quick an easy, I had read of some had issues mounting the X300 on the TA, but I loosened the screws about a half turn and it slid right and and clicked right into place. Snugged the screws back down, and we are good to go. Using the stock rail mount, didn't have to change a thing.

It will also mount on my 15T with Alpha Rail, and the M&P 40S&W.

Width, just slightly wider than the slide...

How's the ergonomics? Is the switch easy to use? Give a mini-review. It looks purposeful and looks good.

Nice! The X300 is an excellent light. I've got one on my duty pistol (Glock 22) and find it to be an excellent tool. The X300 you have there appears to be the ultra model. I really like how you can activate the momentary by simply pushing on the switch instead of rocking it like with Streamlights.

JW I agree, I just found the "tap for momentary on" tonight by accident lol. I was going over the directions as well, looking at the different mounting options. I am using the standard Universal mount, which is designed to fit any rail or light mount I suppose. It works well enough, but in fitting everything it obviously has wider tolerances. What is snug on the TA is also snug on the M&P I have, but a tad loose on the Alpha Rail. Not loose enough to be an issue I don't think, but still I'm going to experiment with the P mount and see if I can get a better fit on the AR, as it uses an additional lug. From the instructions I gather that the Universal is better if you frequently move it from firearm to firearm, but if you are going to leave it on one the specific P mount is better.

Ergonomics is good, at least in the living room :). Took the light outside last night, this sucker is hellabright. Not really heavy at all , don't really notice the weight on the TA or the AR, do notice it a bit on the M&P, it obviously being lighter.

Still, It will stay on the TA or the AR 99% of the time. (Actually, my go-to guy at the LGS told me I will wind up buying one for both eventually, but for now it will share duty :)) Now to find a light compatible OWB holster. Raven doesn't make one, apparently - they specifically exclude the TA from their 1911 w/Rail & Light list, if I am reading the webpage correctly. Don't need anything Tactical or concealable, just a standard OWB will do. Blade Tech may have one, or if not there a local guy doing Kydex that could probably mold one up for me...

Very nice, I want one. Only problem is I have a non-rail E. Best of luck and be sure to post on how it does while firing the .45

Did a little experimenting with the different mounts - they have the Universal, the Picatany, and a "Rail Lock" version included, as well as other specialty/gun specific mounts available for purchase. While the Universal works fine - it locks up tight on the TA and the M&P, but is a smidge looser on the AR - I stripped it down and tried both the Picitany and Rail Lock mounting options as well.

Short version - for the TA, the Universal is the only one that will work. The other two would require the light to be mounted forward one rail notch - which would still work I suppose, but puts the activation switch further away from your trigger finger. The U mount is basically perfect here, mounting the light right up against the trigger guard. With the P and RL mounts, putting the light up against the trigger guard won't allow it to mount in the rail, it's about a 1/2 rail off, so you need to move it up one rail slot.

Both the P and RL mounts work fine on the AR, of course, but since I plan on using it on both, the Universal mount is the way to go for now.
