I have a beautiful 3913 that has been somewhat customized - the frame was chromed and polished, and the slide was highly polished, as were the guide rods and all internals. It is gorgeous.

The gun is extremely accurate as well - 2 inch groups max at 30 - 40 feet every single time with Golden Sabre +P or Gold Dots +P.

The Double Action first shot is a bit harder than I'd like and the Single Action trigger pulls seem fine, but perhaps not as 'tight' as I'd like.

I don't have (or can't find) a local smith (I am in South Florida) that really knows what they are doing here, so I am asking for some advice and help:

1. Is it possible - and SHOULD I - have the trigger pull adjusted for a bit lighter first double action pull? And if so, what are my options in getting this done the right way?

2. I like the pull on the single action, but I think it could use some 'tuning up' in terms of take-up - so... if I have work done on the Double Action first pull, does this affect the Single Action pulls? I don't want the second etc pulls to be too light.

Basically - I think I really need an expert smith who know what he is doing to put this gun into the best possible shape it can be in - it's ALMOST perfect now, but I'd love to have it tuned up.

A great smith in Florida would be perfect - anyone have a recommendation???

I would also love to have night sights installed, but am a bit afraid of hurting the high-polish finish on the frame - right now it has the Novak type 3 dots.

Can anyone provide advice or help? Or recommend an amazing smith I can really trust?

I'll try to post pics later, I think this is one of the most beautiful 3913s I've ever seen.

Thanks all in advance.

SW PC does excellant on smoothing duty actions.

alot of times, the smoothing affects or gives a lighter feel to the pull.

here comes the problem.

there are many gunshops who will refuse your piece because of the polishing. they dont what to deal with the issue of a scratch or scuff and then the complaints come in.

you could mask it off with masking tape and see if they will accept but it might get sent back. I would be upfront and tell them. its better to know first hand, than spending big shipping bucks for it only to get sent back.

Cyl/Slide and Novak's is suppose to do good work on Smith's too.

good luck

Thanks SW CQB 45 for the response.

Will call Cyl/Slide and Novak's and see what they say. I assume by SW PC you mean Smith & Wesson directly?
