ADT Alarm - RIPOFF SPECIAL - CUSTOMER SERVICED

For all those reasons above, when I built my home 30 years ago I spent the extra money and had an Ademco system that was hard wired.
I only had to change the main back-up battery once.

I have no problem with ADT. I recently had to have service on my alarm panel. The tech came out, redid the wiring because the wires were too short for the front panel to open up, changed the batteries, and then told me there was no charge for the work he did.

ADT Alarm Ripped of a Friend

While friend was replacing a low battery, securing tabs of the battery cover were broken off.

Needed a replacement plastic cover to keep window alarm unit functioning.

Humor Number 1 for that day

Bekeart

Time to switch to decaf.

My system was installed and maintained by me. When it needs service, which is rare, I give myself a substantial discount. :D

My back up system requires much more maintenance but is more effective because it is proactive:

One of mine is half dachshund. The alarm mode didn't activate until he was about eight years old, but now the false alarm frequency is beyond annoying. Still love him, though.

When I put my last system in I did a lot of R&D. The system I chose has been completely awesome.

I didn't know it when I bought it, but after it was received I learned that the parent company was based in Israel. All components are Israel manufactured.

I have dozens of sensors, and if any one of the batteries gets low, the system tells me. All of the batteries are USA standard so I never have to worry about replacing one.

Just so I would be safe in the future, I bought spare sensors for the key locations. It has been 36 years now and none have failed, but at least I'm ready.

Which system did you go with GypsmJim? I am shopping around for a replacement system and would appreciate your insight.

My system is manufactured by Visonic. Their retailer way back when was "Smarthome". My specific model was "Securelinc". It was a basic "kit" with dozens of optional add-ons, many of which I purchased.

I don't know if the 2 companies still work together or not. Plus, I'm sure that after all these years the product choices have changed.

Thanks! It looks like Visonic is still in operation. Some information seems dated, so I'm not sure how viable they are. I'm considering Simplisafe since I like the DIY aspect. Still, there's lots to absorb.
