Just wanted to know what you all think of these sights. Gimmic? Thinking on changing my sights and putting on night sights. Any suggestions? Couldn't find any comments on these in the previous forum posts. ADVANTAGE TACTICAL SIGHT!
I put these on a FNX 40
They do take sometime getting used to. I will say after several trips to the range I'm really starting to like them. The front firefly sight is real easy to see at night the rear sight does not glow at night. If you willing to take the time and train using these sights they could work out real well for you.
Have you ever shot with night sights? Unless your grip and trigger control are established, and you can draw with the sights pretty much aligned, trick sights are going to make you very slow in getting off that first hit.
The reason most of us instructors don't say much about specific trick sights is we don't want to offend anyone or start an argument, but we get to see quite a bit of money spent on things that aren't as good as more conventional equipment.
For night shooting, there are basically four realistic options:
1. No night sights, point and shoot.
2. Conventional tritium sights, little green dot in sight, COM.
3. A carry optic with a holographic red dot. When you go into a darkened competition shoot house, this is the superior one.
4. Although prohibited in most competition, a laser that projects onto the target is also very effective.
If you possibly can, try running a shoot house with a borrowed gun and see what its like.
And when you are trying to line up a target that is nothing but a dark blob, ask yourself if you would in real life shoot a person you could not identify?
I simply am looking to change out my stock sights.
