Is it time for a BOYCOTT of NBC's NFL advertised products?

Boycott them until Bob Costas is retired by NBC!

Bottom line finances rules in corporate America, please look at taking some actions now.

Don't buy their products, e-mail them, write them, call them, take to the streets and MARCH
if you must to gain attention for the movement to remove and retire Bob Costas NOW!!!!!!

Don't ever watch football or much on NBC anyway. What should i boycott?

Sometimes boycotts work to get the person who made the comments to retract them or apologize.

Sometimes.

But, I fear, the sponsors we see on TV probably agree with at least part of Costas' remarks. And, maybe, a lot of viewers do as well.

On another forum, a poster who got the live feed from the 2008 Olympics, the whole thing, not the parts cut for viewing, said Costas is really a jerk, abusing everyone, including the person who brought him coffee.

I have never liked him, even 30 years ago, and I simply don't watch anything he's on.

Some people are just full of themselves and are not worth the aggravation of listening to them.

Bob

I see this morning on the news that Bob Costas wants to have some more time to talk about guns and their restrictions on national television. Bob Costas is a "Putz" like I said before and not worth watching. I don't watch NBC anwyay and will avoid him at all costs. He said some things during the Olympics that were out of line I thought. Avoid the guy and maybe he won't get another chance to preach about his ridiculous beliefs.

Moonman:

I want to participate, but I don't know who the sponsors are and the best way to contact them(I'm a letter/email writer). Can you point me to the correct information?

Thank you.
Andy

What we need here is a list of the advertisers. I don't watch football, and have no idea who to complain to.

But with the election over (can I say that here?), I'm afraid that Costas is the tip of an iceberg that will soon emerge.

The time to stop this new attack by the antigunners is NOW. If we react strongly enough, NBC and even some whom we can't mention here may have second thoughts.

But the bottom line is to scare and concern those advertisers.

Don't think we can't make a difference. "The Playboy Club" TV show was cancelled after just three episodes, because extreme right wing conservatives and religious groups complained, before it even had a chance to demonstrate if it was actually so immoral that the public should be concerned. Those people just didn't like the setting!

Our cause is just and urgent, and if we don't act, we will lose our guns and other rights. At least, complain to your local TV stations when they run anti-gun material. And complain to the NFL that their game was used as a vehicle for Costas to rave, and fuss at NBC. They won't care, but may be concerned if they know that you're contacting advertisers. Frankly, the entire upper management at all three major networks needs to be changed. They all seem to have an anti-gun agenda. The only way to change it is to raise Cain the way that civil rights and womens groups have. Surveys show that the public no longer wants gun control as much as in the past. Maybe people are beginning to think.

Like several others (or maybe MANY others), I don't watch anything with Costass on it - so I missed the game.
Which companies advertised on that show?

During a previous Olympics, it was hilarious to note that the chair used by Costas had a considerably thicker cushion than the chairs of those being interviewed. I'm guessing the little guy just couldn't stand sitting lower than his guests.

That's strange...he's a bigger rear than most. :p

Happy Today

I took a target picture of good ol' Bob Costas to the range yesterday. I feel much better today. I probably wasted too much money, I put one 9mm in it.

I’m vehemently opposed to Mr. Costas sentiments, but like it or not the man does have the right to express his feelings. As long as he or anyone else makes it clear that they are ONLY expressing their opinion they have every right to do so in any forum that will allow them to do so.

Ahhh, here in lies the rub, he stated his viewpoint on a major stage financed by sponsors such as McDonalds, Verizon, and Nissan, not to mention the NFL it's self.
Having done so, by extension those same sponsors and the brodcasting company he works for (NBC), now by proxy also own the sentiments stated by their representative.
Actions and words have consequences, his sponsors must now take responibility for their spokesman.

You know, there are probably some responsible gun owners that work for those companies.

I wonder what they would say if they got canned because sales are down because of a boycott?

You can boycott Autozone and any other major corporation and it ain't gonna make a difference.

Wal-Mart was turned away from towns and communities before due to protests, petitions, boycotts, and marches.

Wal-Mart even thought done deals were done, even with politicians already in their pocket.

Things turned out to be not so because of a detetmined local populas.

I agree with the thought of a boycott......but keep in mind, it's NBC....the most left leaning media company around. NBC will probably give Costas a bonus or a raise a very least.

We all have that same right to express ourselves, but more and more I find the chicken ****s thinking they can be excused if they spin the story or give a faint, transparent apology. Man up say what you mean and stick to it or puss out like most celebs and politicians.

Of course he has a "right" to say what he thinks --- that's not at issue. It's what he thinks that's wrong, and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with saying it, because it's wrong, and antagonistic and insulting and offensive, especially when he's using his position as a sports commentator and his sponsors' money to editorialize, uninvited to do so. The sponsors should be his censors. If people want to hear silly opinions on social or cultural issues, they've got ample opportunity to tune in to the likes of O'Reilly and other loudmouth blowhards.

If the sponsors object vigorously enough, he'll be spanked, maybe gone...

I watched Costas tonight on O'Reilly and instead of apologizing he feels like he didn't get his point across enough. He flat out said there are no reasons for ANYONE to have semi automatic firearms. He didn't really give a good reason why and started pulling figures out of where his head has been since Sunday night. His view of gun owners, or as he calls it the gun culture in this country is of a "wild west" and "Dirty Harry" mentality. Those are his words. He of course has no problems with hunters. He feels there is no valid reason, again this is what he said, for a person to be carrying a gun for self defense.
As far as boycotts, so far I know Bud Light and Budweiser are bid advertisers with the NFL and that's a start. There has been a solid campaign on both the NFL and NBC's facebook page to get them to respond as well as Budweisers. I don't know if there is any headway being made but there is a lot of angry people on there and I for one say we get involved and join them.

Gentlemen Thank you

I thought that my original post would get a few comments, but that’s not the reason I wrote that post, I do believe and stand behind what I said.

Now to the most important part, several of you took issue with my writings which is just fine. Yet every one of you did so in a mature and intelligent fashion like the gentlemen you are. This is why I enjoy spending as much time here as I do.
