I firmly believe all shooters should own reloading equipment, supplies, and components even if reloading isn't within sight of their shooting horizons. Properly stored, powder and primers will last forever. I do not believe that they have a shelf life.

In the totalitarian state of CA, sworn, full-time, law enforcement officers have been denied ammo purchases by CA DOJ. All ammo purchasers have to submit to background checks. Ammo purchases can be denied for various reasons not related to criminality. I was told that the majority of rejections were caused by CA DOJ's errors.

10 pounds of Titegroup will keep a .38 Special target shooter on the range for years.

Peruse classifieds for used reloading equipment. I'd suggest inspecting it before purchase.

The goal should be to remove bureaucrats from the loop. A shooter should not be denied fun range time because a bureaucrat has inputted erroneous data. Hence, it's up to us to become independent of bureaucratic control over our fun.

I fully agree, but I am multi-calibered, so for an emergency stash I recommend several pounds Unique. It can be loaded in almost anything!

A 50 Cal ammo can will hold A pound of the powder of your choice, a brick of primers, A Lee Loader and 1000 bullets for almost any fire arm. One kit per caliber is cheap insurance!

Gun hostile states are probably going to follow CA's lead on ammo sales. It's an additional burden on retailers while generating tax revenue for the state.

This law will not prevent a single crime.

All hunting in CA is legal only with projectiles that do not contain lead, which is why I refuse to hunt in this state.

CA totalitarian politicians' next move will be to prevent firing lead bullets, which will remove value from all bullets containing lead.

This thread touches on the exact reason I left CA 10 years ago. Crazy, insane laws against all aspects of firearm ownership. One of the last times I attempted to purchase factory ammo in LA, I was asked for ID. I had read/seen no indication that ID was necessary for ammo purchases, but the counter clerk and sporting goods dept. manager insisted it was a newer regulation in LA. I left 3 boxes of premium 9mm on the counter and left. I had been reloading at that time and just stocked up on components, and as soon as I could, I retired and moved out of state. Best move I've ever made...

Handloading isn’t difficult but then again, nor are firearms. If you consider how many knuckleheads are handling firearms and then consider that this group was now dumping Titegroup in to cartridge cases... oh the humanity.

My camp comprises 50 of the most awesome acres you can find anywhere, and we bought it for a song. I simply refuse to let anyone make me leave my home and family just to go somewhere that is perceived to have lower costs or is more gun friendly.

On the other hand be careful your new bullets aren't Steel Core "Cop Kill" Bullets like the AK and AR ammo!

Well I live in this rap hole & refuse to play doj games & just reload all mupy practice ammo. I shoot about 10k rds a year & I really dont want doj at my uouse asking me why I buy so much ammo. Yes they track ebery purchase. What will come next is percround taxes & limits on how much you can buy in a month. Why, because there is no governing law & controling ammo sakes. No 2A for ammo. If the gun cost &600 & the ammo is $100 per 100rds, whos gonna buy guns?

True. Another alternative is simply to limit range time. It just depends on your motivation, dedication and what’s an acceptable compromise. If I liked where I lived, I could accept limited range time of even none. If I couldn’t, I would move. Reloading is just something I’d never get involved with, but like I said before, that’s just me.

I am the opposite. Not willing to limit range time, I reload & encourage my shooting compatriots to start. For now, the govt isnt controlling reloading components.

I started reloading out of curiosity (As I emptied the cylinder of my 38 in '69; "I wonder if I can reuse these"). I now reload because I like to. I like researching and deciding on a load, working up the load, assembling the handload, shooting, then reviewing the load and recording the load and results. I have no idea what my handloads cost vs factory ammo and I have no obsolete guns, I just enjoy reloading...

I think ***** is a horrible place to live and I would never "settle" there either. (chose whatever state you don't like)

My point is not where and why to "go", but rather why NOT to leave.

My family settled in NY in the early 1900's and that's where we belong.

IMHO....reloading is a hobby that is not for everybody. It takes diligence, attention to detail, common sense and following directions. Not everyone has those abilities.

I shoot just enough that reloading is a fun way to pass time, and shooting handloads is a pleasure. these are things that we could loose with the wrong leadership! Heaven help us all!.....think about that
