Advice on a Model 27 purchase

Funny how so many on this forum will lust after a 624 or 625, but then see a 27-3 without a barrel pin and poo poo it as undesirable or entry level and suggest making some low ball offer. My favorite is "might make a great shooter" lol, ya think?

I wonder what these folks would say about a 24-3?

A decent 6 inch 27-3 for 900… I would be a buyer.

See, what I never understood is why anyone would buy a gun specifically to not shoot it. It's a gun, that's the point. If you want to just stare at something, buy a painting. I love my Model 27-2 but no way in hell would I want it to spend it's life in my safe. I shoot it and I'm even gonna carry it the next time I deer hunt to hopefully give it a kill.

This is just me, but I would not own a gun that has been holstered, would also not want a trigger job, and would not own a a model later than a 27 - 2. That's when the value drops.

If you just want a cheap shooter go for it.

I used to own safe queens....I don't enjoy a firearm that I can only take out to show off. I prefer shooters. Lately, I've been more attracted to guns that have worn bluing and smooooth actions. Guns I'm not afraid to shoot. Why should I keep a gun just so someone else can enjoy it after I'm gone?

YMMV.....btw, my experience has been the non-pinned barrel guns are more accurate. Again, YMMV.
