Advice on purchase

Tisas 1911’s are pretty much disposable since used ones at gun shops are $300 or less.

But I would get something like this.

1969 Colt LW Commander in 9mm. But it’s not for sale.

You can always pick up a tisas and by the way they are treat guns but the model 10 is a great deal and getting harder to find. I’d get the S&W and save for the tisas later.

Very very nice. But being cheap they out of my price range.
The M10 and ammo is at the top end of my budget.

I'd buy the Model 10. Sell the .38 ammo. Use the money to buy the Tisas. You might have to add a few bucks.

That ammo in the Model 10 may not shoot to the point of aim in the Model 10. In theory it should shoot low.

I’m a fan of Springfield’s 1911s and currently have 2 in 9. I was weaned on 1911s over 50 years ago and they will always be my go to. I recently bought a Springfield Garrison Commander stainless in 9mm and just today finished my second range session of 100 flawless rounds.

I will always own .45 acp 1911s but in 9mm they’re a hoot on the range. I won’t buy anything made in Turkey but have never been disappointed with the numerous Springfields. If I could afford one I’d add a Baer in 9 to my 45s. I changed the grips and sights to my tastes and this will go in to my carry rotation during cooler weather.

I'm a fan of the model 10, but I'm just gonna add a comment. If you have never owned or shot a 1911 pistol in 9mm you would be in for a very pleasant surprise. The 9mm is a wonderful cartridge for the 1911. Recoil is virtually non-existant, and if you are an older shooter like me that doesn't have all the strength you used to have in your hands you will really appreciate the lighter weight recoil spring that makes it really easy to rack the slide etc. In case ya haven't noticed, I'm a big fan of the 1911 pistol in 9mm.

Maybe I missed seeing it mentioned, but what is the condition of the Model 10?

Original post thread:
Or, a “friend” has offered me an S&W M10-14, imported police trade in plus 1k PMC Bronze 132gr FMJ .38 special for $765.00 including transfer fee. I would never need to buy more ammo.
For me to shoot 1k rounds will take me forever.

Typical police trade, holstered a lot, shot little. No rust. With import markings.

Well it's hard to go wrong with the model 10 if it's in good servicable shape and with the included ammo and including transfer fee it's a no brainer. Buy it!

I very much like 1911s although I don't have one in 9mm. I do have 45, 10 and 40 covered and I like all of those quite well. The 40 is a compact officers size Springfield which I'm pretty fond of.

However I would like a 9mm but I haven't found one that does it for me yet. If I'm going 9mm I think I want s double stack for capacity. Other than for pocket pistols isn't capacity what 9mm is all about? How about a commander or officers sized double stack 9mm 1911.

Then there's the made in Turkey thing. Yeah they're currently a NATO country but IMHO it's just a matter of time before they turn against both Israel and the U.S. The idea of stengthing their arms industry isn't appealing to me. I'll admit to buying one of their semi-auto 12g, detachable box magazine, bull pup guns, and I feel guilty for that. But darn it was at near give away prices. Of course parts could be a challenge.

Buy the model 10. By the way, the Philippines makes good stuff at very reasonable prices. And for the most part they still like us but China not so much. I don't have one of their 9mms but the Armscor Officers 1911 has been bullet proof.

Well I passed on the M10, mostly because I didn’t want to buy and deal with another caliber.

If I were in your shoes, I'll splash the cash on the M10-14 and add a Barranti summer Classic Ttgunleather Milt sparks holster to complete the setup.
