After 15 years and 155,000 miles the vertical seat cushion is developing a rubout spot down to the urethane foam. Is there a sticky backed product that can be cut to size and stuck on as a patch?

There is cloth stuff that you can iron on. Comes in different colors and size pieces.

There is a cloth peel & stick, Google "Singer Peel & Stick"

Not sure if you are going to find something that would match the fabric? I would probably "patch" it with Gorilla Glue Duct Tape, then slip on seat covers.

Post above beat me to it. Any sticky fabric material to patch a worn spot a will rub off rapidly. Cover the spot with sticky backed fabric and then buy cheap seat covers. They will prevent the sticky fabric repair from being rubbed off. (Don't ask me how I know!)

I say the same as above Gorilla tape and seat covers but you could buy a new seat cover to match the factory one for about $100.

Any adhesive backed tapes or patches WILL melt sooner or later and not only will it stick to your car seat, it will start sticking to your shirt, coat, etc. The heat inside a locked car is way too hot for most of these adhesives. There are products made for that purpose and it is the type that can be applied like caulking and cure to a flexible surface. All things are temporary, but check out this video. It works to fill in missing vinyl and leather surface wear as well as tears and cracks.

A friend had his seat cover repair by an automobile upholstery shop for a few bucks. It looks good and had lasted for years so far.
