OK.
I originally picked this model 60-4 5-shot .38 spec at Walmart of all places for something like 280.00 back in '92 or '93. I sold it to my brother with the understanding he could only sell it back to me. Well I just traded him a 9mm pistol for it back and pulled the hogue mono-grip off and replaced the original walnut gips. This is sweet back-up piece and easy to hide. And no ILS! I know it's a wee thing but I'm very glad to have her back:) And less than 50 honest rounds though it!

Congrats on her return. Looks like a nice gun that I would sure like to own.

Welcome to the Forum!
Glad to hear a happy ending with the return of your snubby. It sometimes doesn't work that way with family and friends on gun transactions.......I've seen a few horror stories before.

Congrats on posting pics in your first thread!

Gorgeous little Chief you got there. I just picked one up myself a few days ago. What's the serial number prefix on yours? It looks like it was made in the mid 80's or so.

Glad to hear that it worked out for you and you got her back. That sure is a pretty little gun.

Prefix is BNC3XXX. And no these are not the original grips but my brother confirmed he has 'em...just gotta find 'em. I picked these up on ebay...and though they're pulled off an early example and are perfect, I'm looking forwad to the ones that came off her!

Well, I was gonna see what part of Oklahoma you were in and offer up a trade with ya - a 60 for a 60. Mine is from 1980-81 and I would like to have a model 60 around the same era (1985-86) as my model 38 Airweight Bodyguard, but it sounds like you're pretty smitten by that little feller.

Cheers!

Welcome.

I wish I could do the same with many firearms that I have parted with.

Nice revolver.

That is a great story, and thank you for sharing. There are a number of pistols I wish I had never gotten rid of.

Great to hear that you got it back.

You and me both...I really hate to think of the ones I'll never get back. I am a little disturbed with this locking thing and have refused to buy any Smith's with it...mabey I don't have all the information but it strikes me as "Litigated safety" and I have little regard for poor training.

I've got a model 60 no dash looks just like it. I keep thinking about getting something with a little less weight but they are just so nice to look at compared to the new ones, hang on to it this time. Just shot mine yesterday and they hit what you aim at.
