Page after page, search after search.....I still need help with finding a carrying case for my 15-22, 3 25 round magazine, 1 10 round magazine. The firearm has a small red dot, and a pretty short front grip.

What I need:
Black Soft Case
Smallest possible size(stock fully collapsed)
Must store 3 1/2 magazines on the outside(or inside if they are fully enclosed as to not touch the rifle). Would also prefer it to be individual magazine pouches.
Shoulder or backpack straps if possible.
I don't need it to hold ammo as it's illegal for me to transport ammo and the firearm together.

I think I went over everything there but the price, don't want to go overboard as it's just a simple range case, $50 give or take a little.

Thank you all very much!

Take care
-Matt

I have one of these I bought when I got my rifle;

Cabela's Tactical Rifle Cases

On sale now for a twenty dollar bill.

I think that is what I paid as well, as it was on sale then. Works well!

If you want the smallest possible size case to fit your 15-22 this is it-- Uncle Mikes medium 33". It meets all your other criteria except it has just 3 external mag pouches. I bought mine as Sportsman Warehouse a couple years ago for $25. You can find them online for about the same.

I bought one of the cheaper $19.99 sale cases from Cabelas and it was made by Allen and wasn't the same as the one your picture shows (I have one of those, too) The good version has the cabelas name embroidered, just like the photo. The lower cost version does not. there is a huge difference in the quality between the two. I paid closer to $39 for the better one.

Hey Skeet here is one you might like, I have one just like it and it has plenty of room for what you need it for. It is the "Bulldog" Extreme Black 35" Tactical Case (BD422) from Optics Planet.com.
Price was right $25.95 :D

That is correct; the smallest case possible. I like the 3 pouches to where I can fit the 25 round mags, and I can just leave the 10 rounder at home or in the gun. I ordered a 10 rounder for some squirrel extermination around the property. Does this case have straps inside to hold the firearm securely or will I have to add some? What about an option for a shoulder strap? I know the gun is light enough to carry by hand but sometimes I like the shoulder or back pack straps. If it doesn't come with one are there any clips to add one later?

I bought one of these for about $30 on Amazon. One small benefit is that the shape doesn't scream GUN.

I like the looks of the case, you're right about it not looking like a firearm case. How is the storage on it? I'd prefer individual storage for the magazines. Straps on the inside to hold the firearm? Does this have a shoulder strap or clips so I can purchase one separately and use it?

Thank you all very much so far, ideally, smaller the better.

I have the Ruger SR-556c and love the case that came with it but it is a bit bigger than what I need. I'm going to see what happens with it tonight, it may work as it's a bit beefier material, just has the Ruger logo on it which I love but I don't like it when there is a Smith in their. ;)

Yes, it has a carry handle and shoulder strap just like the pic in the link. No, there aren't internal straps. There is no need for them.

There's actually plenty of room and it will hold two 15-22 if they aren't scoped. The separate compartment has 4 pockets for magazines and numerous elastic retainers for additional mags and other items. While I wouldn't call it excessively padded it's a lot better than some of the higher priced soft cases I've seen in the big sporting goods stores and would easily survive some minor abuse. Finally, in addition to the normal carry handles it has a padded shoulder strap.

I liked this one enough to pick up the larger version for my CZ 455.

Thank you very much Phil! I am leaning towards the Uncle Mike's for around $25 plus shipping.

Very helpful there tgmorris99, extremely helpful. This is definitely the second in line choice. It sure is making this decision rough. It looks like the storage for magazines, tools, towels, etc. would be nice to have but is it necessary for my needs......

I will have to take this decision through the weekend with me boys, greatly appreciate it.

The one I linked to has straps to hold the rifle and is only a couple inches longer than the rifle with the stock collapsed. the second rifle compartment will hold extra mags, towels, etc.

This is how it will fit with a 10rd mag.

Now keep in mind this is for taking the gun back and forth to the range. It is NOT for tossing it back in the bed of the pickup and getting thrown around while you go four wheeling (though we do a lot of that around here). These type of cases just keep the guns from getting scratched up while piling them up ten high in the back seat of the pickup. :D
