Age of .38 Special Ammo

I have a very nice box of Winchester .38 Special that I am giving a friend. I would like to be able to tellhim a little about the age of it. The manufacturer is shown as Winchester Repeating Arms Company/ Division of Western Cartridge Company. There is no reference to Olin. The lot is K3884 T. Any ideas as to the vintage?

The lot number you provided does not look correct. Can you provide a picture of it? If there is no Olin, it would be 1944 or earlier. For Pre-1957, the Winchester code is as follows:

WINCHESTER
The first one or two digits are the month, and the next digit is the last digit of the year then a space followed by the day of the month.
Examples:
126 30 = December 30, 1936 or 1946 or 1956 or etc....
80 23 = August 23, 1930 or 1940 or etc.....
The box style and markings have to be used to decide the decade.
