I am about to place a grip order for some Ahrend's Grips.

His web site needs more pictures. I have a few 6xx series
guns that I would like to all have matching grips. And based
on the limited pictures I can't make up my mind.

Anyone have any pictures of Stainless guns with Ahrend's
they want to share? Including the grip model and wood
would be extra nice.

Thanks,

dale

Ahrends Grips : S&W Tactical Grips
If you look at this page from their web site, and look at the 2nd pictures from the top, left and right, you will see a big difference in the grain of the grips. The one on the left would be made from a plank that was quarter sawn from a log and the one on the right would be made from a plank that was flat sawn from a log, BIG difference.
I ordered the grips above directly from Ahrends and asked for this specific grain pattern. I think you can find them a few dollars cheaper elsewhere on line but I like the manufacturer's special touch.
I hope this helps.

Holy Crap!

What kind of wood are the top two on the right?

two bottom are round butt, second up on left is a set of boot grips, on right side with red dot is round to square, two more round butt next to it. This is part of my "L" frame family.

So, Hawkerman - could you elaborate on the BIG difference between quarter sawn and flat sawn planks? Do you mean just visually different? or is there some strength difference inherent with one or the other?

The guy that put in my wood floor used quarter sawn Tamarack on the stairs (which cost more) and flat sawn on the rest.

These are Ahrends maple grips w/oil finish, no finger grooves, on the wife's 13-1:

They are well-crafted, but far too slender for my tastes.

Here are my 3" twins. Cocobola wood. They were the both the color of the grips on the 65 when I got them. They have a tendency to darken a bit with age, as with the grips on the 13, which were purchased earlier. I love these grips on these 3" guns. Now I need a set of the square butts for my 686-1.

Regards,

Chuck

I agree, Rangerone. There are others on the forum with some very nice Ahrends maple stocks who have much better cameras and photography skills than I do. I really like the blond look--but the subtle fiddleback pattern in the maple is hard to capture. In the right light it's spectacular. These fit my hand just right.

I bought a pair of Ahrends from a forum member here, they look very nice.
I have never had my hands around Ahrends grips, I hope I like them.
All of my revolvers have Badger or Hogues.
I like the blonde ones more and more:cool:

I think the Ahrends grips LOOK beautiful but they hurt my hands. The sharp edges and flat front of the grips are very uncomfortable to my hands. I put Hogues (or Kurac's) on everything I own. YMMV
