Here is a much older 22lr revolver with the non-finger groove version of Ahrends.

Model 18-4 - Ahrends Cordia grips

That cordia looks great.
I have cocobolo Ahrends on my 686 and 617.
I really like their grips.

I love me some Ahrends, I think I up to about 5 or 6 pairs now. Here is my 629MG with some maple RB finger grooves. I will see if I have a family pic around.

Ahrends Moradillo Refinish

First of all I prefer wood over rubber. My 681 no dash came with S&W magnas. Too small! I found a great set of S&W targets but they were too big! So I put on a set of Ahrends Retro Targets in Moradillo wood. Perfect! But I didn't like the color. They had a yellowish look that I just didn't like. So I decided to refinish. I used acetone to take off the polyurethane and then applied several coats of Watco Danish Natural oil finish. Now I'm really happy. I have the perfect grip for my hands and a finish that I like too. The end result is pretty close to walnut. I wish I had a before pic. but I don't. Anyway here's the result.

Loeman,

Great looking grips. I too am not overly fond of the moradillo color on mine, and will probably refinish. Thanks for the tip on the product.

I have quite a few Ahrends stocks.
All except one set came from Terri Redman, ALA "Gripseller" on eBay.
Terri has an inside connection to Ahrends and always has many in stock.
Price is the same as direct from Ahrends, plus you get to see the exact stocks you will be getting.
Her service is fantastic, too.
Just thought you would like to know.

Ahrends stocks are well done. Sometimes they are put on S&W revolvers by the factory, as in this 25-13 example:

I particularly like their concealment finger groove stocks - hardly any increase in bulk, comfortable to grip, and they don't print under clothing hardly at all. Here's a couple of sets on a Model 19 and a Model 66:

They work well on round-butt N-frames as well, as shown here on a 624:

And here's a set of smooth round-to-square conversion retros on a 625. As you can probably tell, I really like Ahrends!

Ahrends - No More Cocobolo Being Manufactured

Cocobolo was put on the endangered list by CITES effective in 2014. In late Jan/early Feb I sent an email to the company asking about Cocobolo availability and was advised that they were no longer making grips in this wood. Kim Ahrends wrote that he didn't want to get caught in a situation like Gibson Guitars faced a few years ago when rosewood went on the list and Gibson was raided by the Feds. He advised me to check what his suppliers had because that would be all for Cocobolo. I was looking for the hand rubbed oil finish and I found some Retro Targets for K/L and for N frames with that finish in Cocobolo.
