I just watched a fake video on Youtube of a well known older liberal politician who we all know saying some very derogatory things about one of his closest female fellow politicians (protégé) and the American Citizens. I had to watch it twice to see it was AI. Of course it is fake AI news but it was good enough to fool many people watching it only one time. I won't mention their names because of policy here, but believe me both are in the news everyday! This post is all about the technology of AI, not the politicians in the video. AI has gotten to the point that it is now so good people will not know what to believe - even if they hear it live! I fear that many individuals will not know how to discern what is real and what is fake AI and could turn citizens even more against each other than we have ever experienced. We live in scary times now and the old propaganda methods will now have video's to "prove" their points. Stay sharp and think hard!

The best advice is to question EVERYTHING we see and hear (no matter the source) and most importantly, use good old COMMON SENSE!

I bet you are happier and have less worries - no doubt about that! There are a few days within a year where I have turned the news off to watch Jeopardy, but I just can't shut myself down and not be aware of what is happening day by day. "Keep your friends close - but your enemies closer" is a quote that always resonates.

When A.I. is finally able to make the eyers and fingers perfect, then we can expect dangerous situations to come.
I know some may be able to tell the difference already but when it is perfected === watch out.

Think of the radio broadcast in 1938 when Orson Welles narrated the "War of the Worlds" which caused some people to panic because they didn't know that it wasn't a real Martian invasion

It used to be that one was told to believe nothing of what they hear and only half of what they see. Nowadays, and to Chief38's point, everything should now be suspect.

It works vice versa too, there have been some videos of people committing crimes and they claim that the videos are a fake.

AI is indeed a big concern. The question is how can it be determined which is real and which is fake? Can AI help with that....and do we trust it?

I think Chief38 hit that right. I don't have any idea where AI is going but I think I'll stand with Pogo "We have met the enemy, and he is us." and Sherlock Holmes "Everyone Lies".

New technology is sometimes a wonderful thing - but there are always some who will use that technology in negative ways. IMHO, AI will mostly be used for things that will not help the Citizenry.

Back in 1970, my high school drafting teacher used to tell us at least once a week, "Don't believe nothing you read and only half of what you see." He was smart beyond his years!

I wonder why some folks show trepidation at AI. It's not like anyone is coercing them to use it or watch it.
Unless you live in a cabin off grid, AI is in everyone's life. It has already been integrated into infrastructure. Where we go from here as AI quickly exceeds human capabilities is a mystery

I hope you don't take offense -- really, none intended -- but I find it humorously ironic in this thread about false information being spread by AI. The fact is, Sherlock Holmes never said that in any of the stories written by Arthur Conan Doyle. Perhaps that line was in one of the many movie and TV adaptations of Sherlock Holmes stories, I don't know, but it was not in any of the originals.
