I believe that I had my first AI spam call. I don't not normally answer the phone but the caller ID had a person's name and a local phone number so I answered the call. First clue, the person spoke perfect English, not some one who's first language was NOT English. They wanted to sell me a home security system. When ever I asked a question, the response was, "That is a very interesting question." I could not interrupt the person while they were speaking. When I did not respond to them, they went back to the very first part of their presentation about offering a home security system. They never answered any of my questions. I got tired of "playing" with them and hung up and blocked the number.

Since December 31st, I have recieved on some occassions not only the usual scam callers but AI constantly. Each from a different number and calls came every five or ten minutes. It was so bad I had to turn off my phone...and yes, I have spam blockers.

At work yesterday, the site phone rang with scam callers every three or four minutes throughout my shift. Some of these scammers got REAL ugly and threatening about it.

AI is gasoline thrown on a forest fire in regards to these and no amount of blocking or regulation is going to stop them. It doesn't matter whether they are here or in another country.

This sort of thing could easily destroy the entire telecommunications system by jamming it with a continuous stream of spam and scam calls to everyone. We may have to go back to smoke signals.

At least yours was AI -- I get them all the time from (on my caller ID) local phone number and a name. It's an Indian (not American) -- wants to know if I need knee or back braces. One I asked him where he was calling from, and he said my doctor called CVS and have them call me. I asked what doctor -- can't tell you because of HIPA. Asked the address of the CVS he was calling from -- click.

Hellfire missiles for these spamcall centers.
Put the old stock to good use.
