Ainiro biometric handgun safe

I recently bought an Ainiro biometric handgun safe. I intend to install it in a vehicle. I found the two mounting holes in the bottom of the safe but one thing puzzles me. It came with a 3' length of steel cable, one end has an eye the other end has a steel bitter end, I assume it keeps the cable from unraveling like a back splice. There isn't anywhere the cable can attach to the safe.

The Ainiro website doesn't even mention it. Youtube has videos about the safe but zip about the cable.

What is the intended function?

Those cheap and easy to open gun safes are really a false sense of security-especially in a vehicle that is unattended in public places. I don’t like them in night stands either. Watch “Lock picking Lawyer” on YouTube and see how easily they are opened!

You are way better just carrying on your person. Leaving a loaded gun in a vehicle is an accident waiting to happen IMHO.

I agree with you, I will be using the safe only when I am going into a bank, school etc. The pistol will be removed from the safe when I return to my vehicle. The pistol will remain on me until I lock it up in my big safe overnight.

I have seen some "safes" with less security than a wet grocery bag.

If you use the supplied cable with the one Oracle is looking at, it will be sufficient to stop a smash and grab situation.

I agree with you, I will be using the safe only when I am going into a bank, school etc.

Why would you not carry in a bank? One of the places you are most likely to need to protect yourself!

I am assuming those are the places he is referring to when leaving the gun in the car.

These safes are only meant to prevent the theft for a short term, like when you go in somewhere that you can't take your handgun, not for long term storage.

I am likely incorrect about the banks, I rarely go inside a bank anymore. The safe will not be used as long term storage, just briefly used.
Does anyone remember the rifle racks in the pick ups? As a teen growing up in Texas you weren't horse apples till you had your own. The school parking lot was full of trucks with racks and rifles, you won't see that anymore.
