I was once training a new secretary and turned to show her the typewriter for certain forms. She had no idea where or how or probably even if to put the paper in.

The Sound of Work

Some of you might remember the "wonderful" sound of a large office of Secretarys all typing away on their typewriters. It was a sound never to be heard again, if you think about it. I wonder if anyone has a recording of that? I'd kind of like to hear it again.
PS: And when I started working, all those secretarys were wearing dresses (and many in high heels)!

Yep - and the good ones knew shorthand and could take notes faster than you could talk. If they would teach that skill to all our high schoolers, sure would help those that attend college.
