Air Fryer

Have seen them. They also sell simple wire baskets that can be used in a conventional oven which does exactly the same thing. We use one of the baskets mainly for toasting frozen french fries.

We use ours for quite a few meals; burgers (beef and turkey), chicken breasts and wings, fries, veggies, burritos, grilled cheese, onion rings, etc. Both frozen packages stuff and fresh made. Most things it does really well, some things are meh. We experiment all the time with ours. One of my guys at work cooks steak and chops in his. I can't quite bring myself to that.

It's pretty quick, easy to clean and done basically without oil. Overall, ours is a keeper.

EDIT: I forgot, my wife has cooked several whole chickens (they have been over 4 pounds). They are terrific. Tastes like rotisserie chicken bought at the market.

No need to preheat like an oven. The theory is very much like a convection oven, but I think they work more efficiently and quicker. The housing remains fairly cool.

My only experience was stopping at a small family owned fast food place. Started eating the fries and they were not good and tasted funny. When I commented to the person behind the counter they replied that they don’t have an oil fryer and that it’s and air fryer.

Well, what's the difference between an air fryer and an oven .I gots to know

A oven is big, heavy, sits on the floor, takes up a lot of space, uses a lot of electricity, takes a long time to clean and de-greese and is expensive. Whereas an air fryer cooks by circulating hot air around the food using the convection mechanism. A mechanical fan circulates the hot air around the food at high speed, cooking the food and producing a crispy layer via the Maillard effect.

Now if you cut a big hole in the side of your oven and mounted a high speed floor fan I guess you might get the same results...but Ise don't knows that to be a fact.......

Hope this helped......:D:D

I sure do love the convection feature on our oven. :) Might have to try it on a breaded pork tenderloin now that you guys have me thinking of it. :)

GOT'S TO KNOW.

When it's already hot/humid, the smaller/efficient AIR ovens won't be doing battle against your A/C. ;)
Not to mention the faster cook time, cooking frozen food, no/less oil, easier clean up. NO, they don't do it ALL but some things they do well. How much & how well you get with it will depend on how much time/use you invest. I can pretty much GA-RUN-TEE you won't be cooking like the guy on the infomercial. We were just GIVEN one FREE on Saturday (like new) & we didn't say no. We are now on our 2nd brand.

A friend had 1 she only used on Thanksgiving to cook turkey or ham, & let us use/hold/store it for her. (it does a "decent" job & frees up the big oven for the side dishes. Just don't try to put ANY part in the dishwasher.

Frying without oil? That’s un-American.

It is not really frying. It is marketing for things that are coated with oil then roasted in a convection oven. An air fryer simulates boiling in oil. It might be close, but it is not the same. Folks say squirrel, snake, frog, alligator, turtle, armadillo, et al. taste like chicken. They do not. If I say fried alligator tastes like a fried reptile people will think fried chicken, because dinosaurs evolved into birds and people know what fried taste like. Take the time to master any cooking technique and you can end up with great foods. Set it and forget it leads to house fires.
