The coil spring mattress on my bed is getting tired. Both me and my wife have back problems and we need a new mattress.Funds are low so I was looking at an air mattress for daily use.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Look at some of the modern foam mattresses online, they are reasonably priced and the one that I have is very comfortable .

Every air mattress I ever owned got a leak, probably 8 or 9 at least so no more of them for me I would rather have a 3 inch thick futon mattress on the floor.

We just ordered a "Puffy" mattress today. Not air but supposed to be pretty good. About the price of a new 686.

If in dire financial straits I can recommend the air mattresses at Wallyworld. I bought a extra thick one which has worked well for temporary use during the past hurricane. It unfortunately has a molded in pillow though which I DO NOT care for. Not a perfect solution but I hope it will be helpful.

I got a queen sized mattress topper five years ago off Amazon for the not so comfortable mattress in our guest bedroom: SleepJoy 2" ViscO2 Ventilated Memory Foam Mattress Topper, Queen. $90. Everyone says the bed is very comfortable now.

Might try it like Rusty says on top of an air mattress.

Or, maybe on top of your existing mattress, like we did? Although if the springs are giving out, probably not the best solution.

I have to sleep at different sites a lot, and was purchasing Areo beds. Don't waste your money, they are only made for sleep-overs. I am now on a camp cot and camping air mattress. Sleep number beds seem to have become popular.

twin AM

built a FOUNTON wood frame bed, w/ storage underneath the bed. used a twin/ w/ baffles/ raised pillow. grandson, now 13, will tell everyone that listens, it's his room, best bed. it might need some air every 4 months. but it's your choice. visitors never even know it's air bed.

I attend a lot of estate sales and regularly see clean, high end mattress sets offered for pennies on the dollar.

You might want to check out this site and see what’s available locally.

Yep...I picked up a practically new Serta Perfect Sleeper mattress and spring set for $50. Was bought for a guest room and quickly rotated to the main crib.
