Been considering investing in one of these pocket monsters. My only hesitation is the cracked frames I've been reading about. Is this something that has been worked out in the current models or is this still an issue?
i have shot the **** out of my 642 without issue but i understand that frame failure can and does happen. my solution is to inspect frequently and have a spare or several spare jframes.
Haven't seen any cracked frames but have seen plenty of them shot loose. I use my 442 for carry and practice lightly with it. Just to make sure I can still control the trigger and group well enough at reasonable ranges to do the job. I do have a couple spare j frames though.
I have a 637-2 with a Ti cylinder swap that has seen over 1k rounds, and not a single issue. Like someone said in a previous post, just pay attention to you gun while cleaning it, and look for any defects or issues that could lead to a bigger problem down the road.
