I just saw that Netflix has a new adaptation of Erich Remarque’s seminal work coming out in October. From the trailer, it looks very promising. I’ve read the book twice, back in high school lit class and several years later after I got out of the Navy. I’ve seen both of the earlier adaptations, the 1930 one that was great and the one that starred Richard Thomas as Paul Bäumer that was so-so. It comes out on 28 Oct. I’m looking forward to it.

I found the 1930 movie too stylized, the 1979 version-I met both Ernest Borgnine and Richard Thomas at Chiller Theatre-more natural and realistic.
My favorite line is when Katczinsky says:
"It wouldn't be such a bad war if we could get some more sleep."

Never liked the film versions so far, but I'm open to this one being decent. The book is a masterpiece.
