Was getting some groceries and didn't have enough cash so I swiped my credit card. Was a bit slow in signing the machine so it prompred for a signature verification. I signed it and it went through. In the 10 seconds between that happening the clerk saw the signature verification prompt and asked me for a picture ID. I did not have my DL on me so I gave her my Carry permit which has my information including drivers liscense # and my picture-but no signature. SHE WOULDN'T ACCEPT IT!!! Said it wasn't a valid state issued ID!!!!!!!!!!!! By now the card company has accepted my card and printed my receipt. She wouldn't give me back my card or the receipt and wouldn't void the transaction. By now I'm livid. I call for the manager and try to explain that my name is on the credit card-the same name is on the carry permit, ISSUED BY THE STATE OF LOUISIANA, and the picture of the guy on the carry permit is a dead ringer for the guy standing there at the register. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT!!! I then make the big "faux pas" by noting that I've never seen them ask for picture ID from someone using a foodstamp card which set the tone out quite clearly. By now I've got a cashier, a supervisor and an assistant manager and finally get my purchase voided and my card back, but I'm not leaving until I get a receipt showing the void which for some reason they can't figure out how to make a copy of the internal receipt to give to me. (remember now that the purchase had already gone through with the credit card accepting both my card as well as my electronic signature). By now I'm about as angry as I can remember and am screaming for the top manager. Who gets there, hears story-looks at the three subordinates wide eyed and tells them to re-ring up my purchases give me my card and receipt.
Watch out guys, they are stupid out there and they're out breeding us.

I thought this was going to be about riding bicycles thru the toy department and holding gun fights with the toy guns there.

I thought I wasnt gonna be alone in this anymore... :(

Next time wear a ball cap backwards and wink at the cashier. It's a lot easier.

I understand your anger, however, the fact that you are holding a carry permit makes me wish you did not allow yourself to show your anger.

Hey cajun, it really would have made your day had the clerk followed you to your car and when you started to back out, scream for back up and that you are under citizens arrest for trying to drive without a license!

Out of all the years I've been shopping at Walmart (many), my favorite store , I've only been asked once for my picture ID, which is "required" when I use my credit card... all I hear whispers: "don't get that old fella riled-up"!

Trust me,that won't even come CLOSE to getting you tossed from a Wal-mart!

I can't imagine that happening at the sporting goods counter in their North Olmsted, Ohio store. You can't have a negative experience with a person who's not there and can't be found...

It's a compliment....

I would feel good as I would certainly take it as a compliment...LOL:p

Not in my part of the world.......I guarantee it!!!
I figger if 20 little booger-pickers can do it,so can I!

I'd contact Walmart Corporate and complain. I had a problem buying ammo @ WM once and they followed up on it pretty well when I called their regional offices.
It seems that the problem is the lower level employees in most cases but what do you expect for minimum wage.

I like walmart. The wife goes there about 4 times a week. Ours has nice benchs to sit on. I find a bench and watch the show! I have always been a people watcher and profiler. (You might say I did it for a liveing). I would like to say its cheap entertainment but the wife buys stuff! Fun watching for the poligamists here!

I once waited at the counter for 15 minutes waiting for the employee who worked in the sporting goods section. I saw two boxes of .357 for a great price and couldn't pass it up.

15 minutes went by... no employee.

So.. I called my girlfriend and had her look up Wal Marts phone number. I called the store and asked if they could send someone to the sporting goods counter because I've been waiting there for 15 minutes! Very soon after, someone appeared.. go figure.

The calibre of service employees working in retail has deteriorated to the point where they are more likely to understand and acknowledge gang signs because the "baby father" taught them than a civil interaction which requires them to use logic, common sense and courtesy, all of which they were never taught to begin with. I dispute the theory that because we lose our temper now and then that we are not fit to have a concealed weapons permit. I would only resort to using my weapon to save my life, not because someone pissed me off, unlike the street sub-culture who might have shot the store clerks instead of lecturing them.

And here you thought zombies were fictional characters.

.............I predict a thread lock at post 81 or so. ( :) Y ;) )
