No, not West Virgina although it's nice. I am referring to Pinehurst NC. A golfers, haven and testament to Donald Ross' evil streak.

Just got back from playing 6 days straight. The body may take a week to recover but it was bliss.

Where is your "Almost Heaven"? And it doesn't have to be golf related of course.

Pinehurst and Heaven...I understand...it's an hour and a half from me....go often....but never ever again play #2 from the back tees...if you do you will sell your clubs and take up tennis.....

That's easy. It's my home. I helped design it to be my forever home with an open concept. My late mother inspired me to put in the senior citizen/handicap amenities, which came in handy after my knee surgery. And I belong to three gun clubs that surround it. The town has welcomed me and accepted me as part of the town governance. And I spent a long time with my late aunt and uncle who suggested I move here.

I have played Oakmont, Laurel Valley, TPC Sawgrass, and some other great courses. Played them poorly I am compelled to add...

Almost Heaven?...about 20 miles north of the border of West, by God, Virginia in SW PA. I have been going here since 1967 when my dad and some friends started the club. It has changed a lot in those years, but I get back there every chance I get .

If I did not want Mrs' ashes to be alone for eternity, I'd have mine scattered there.

Where is almost heaven? For me, it's any rifle range of over 100 yards! In Ohio, there is Camp Perry. That is a shallow level of heaven! Thunder Vally and Reiner's Range of East and Southeastern Ohio, absolutely God's country! We would take a cooler with lunch and soft drinks and spend the day for $15 at TV and $10 at Reiners. Taking time to "Dope" the wind, and latterly watch the earth move away from your long shots!

It isn't golf, it isn't for everybody but hearing a "Ding" come back 500 or 1000 yards is so invigorating! And Therapeutic! I did a lot of recovery from my stroke on those hills!

That's a beautiful place. My golfing claim to fame is my birdy on 17 at TPC.

Oakmont is a dream. The location of Johnny Millers miracle round.

Can I come live with you? That sounds about perfect! That last line is the best part :D

My fav was our little 40 acre place we lived on the Eastern Shore of Md...till the Philthydelphians Washington Idiots and Baltimorons moved in...So we came out here to Wy bought a small ranch at the end of the road...about 900 or so acres...with 35-40 thousand acres of BLM behind us. Shoot when I want..or not...Sorry guys...Playing golf is an absolure waste of time and money...unless you can make a living doing it

My camp on Lake Champlain. Out in the boat at the crack of dawn, chugging along with the downriggers out, listening to the hypnotic sound of the steel downrigger cable whine as it slices the water, then the release and screaming drag when a trout or salmon take the bait. Back to camp for lunch and a nap, then back out for the afternoon bite. Paradice.

Reiner's Range. A really challenge in the summer, when it is hot and humid, and yet the wind blowing on the 1000 yard line. Watching the flag where you are shooting from blowing one way, the one mid way blowing another, and the one out at the targets blowing yet another way. Shooting from one ridge to another, and with that spur in between to make the wind so wild. It gets real challenging, to say the least, and fun.

Can I have 3 ?
One is in fact West Virginia. Greenbrier County. Specifically my grandfathers farm and the 50 acres my wife and I purchased last year. The second is Whisky Holler which is my cabin in NY’s souther tier. Just a couple miles from Pa border. And the third is Lake Nippising in Ontario Canada. Sitting in an old cedar strip boat watching the fog lift off water while listening to Loons court one another is one of the most relaxing things ever.

Back Creek Pickleball courts just past the refinery in York County Va on Goodwin Neck Road. With the members of the "BC Dinkers" (654+) playing an average of two hours+ a day weather permitting. Closing in on 75 with the best age gene pool on earth (mom and POP combined 201 years) and trying to keep in shape while enjoying every minute of play. Almost all are younger than I but occasionally I can give the youngsters a run for their money. Costs nothing to play and everyone is the best people you will find on this planet. I have actually told them it's "probably as close to heaven I will ever get". I may start competing after I turn 75 this November.
