Has anyone on the Forum purchased the Altamont "Coke Bottle" grips? Their K Frame round butt conversion grips have me very interested for my Model 19 Classic. The palm swell reminds me of the comfort of the grips on my CZ 75.

I don’t exactly have those, but I got a set for my N frame RB conversion. Pictured on my 629 Mountain Revolver.

In my opinion, they look great. They were cut and fit well. You should know that they definitely fit the hand smaller than real cokes or target stocks (for their N frame model). Not sure how that translates to their K frame offering, just thought it was worth mentioning.

On a model 19 I’m certain they’ll look great. Good luck with your decision.

I have two sets. One on a 4" 10-7 square frame and the other a round butt conversion on a short barreled model 69. I'm very pleased with the feel, fit and finish on both.

Altamont grips

No experience with the grips you ask about, but I’ll take the opportunity to share my recent experience with Altamont.

I ordered a set of G-10 boot grips for a 2.5 in late model Python. They arrived in four weeks and looked good. That’s the best part. When trying to put them on I discovered that they were not relived enough at the top to allow them to be seated.

I took pictures, emailed them to Altamont (because they never answered my calls and didn’t return my voice mails) and three days later received a response from “Heather”. She said that she had a similar call from another customer recently and had advised that person to use a hammer to get them installed. She told me to use a similar approach. Either she is blind or didn’t look at the photographs I sent, but trust me they don’t make a hammer big enough to get those grips fitted.

I’ve subsequently resorted to my Dremal and files and made a huge reminder to myself to never purchase anything directly from that company. I used them because they make the grips for the new Colts and figured they would fit, but silly me was wrong.

My advice. Look somewhere else for grips.

I would love it if Juan P or some other Thailand grip maker would try to do an exact copy of S&W factory wood grips. Targets, Combats, anything with a filler behind the trigger guard. Cokes would be nice and many of their grips look and feel good but something is always a little off. I don't mind doing a little sanding if I have to, but just wish the shape, color, and medallion were excellent copies. I can't really complain as cheap as they are, but...

Look at the Eagle Heritage walnut cokes. Not cheap though

Jer8, how’d they turn out? Pics?
The hammer thing is just weird.
The definitely messed up your order, twice. But I’m still a fan.

I’ve ordered a set for a Browning Buck Mark 22 pistol. They snapped into place as if Browning themselves had made them.

Those are sure pretty. I hope mine will look the same.

I have a set on my 686 Plus. They feel great, but the set they sent me are not very highly figured. They actually look better in the photo than they do in person.

Here are a couple of pictures I sent to Altamont. They show that the grips would not fit and no hammer in my inventory would change things. You can see that the locating pin is off center. Oh and I forgot to add that they wanted me to cover shipping if I opted to send them back for refund. No offer to fix them.

Hi, Do you use your Altamont Coke's with a Speed Loader? I plan on doing that since I shoot bullseye with a revolver sometimes. I don't NEED to use a speed loader, but it saves time and keeps the heart rate down.
Thanks

I don't have a speed loader for my 22LR Model 617. Not sure how it would work.

I have a pair on my 4" m69 and like them just fine. I have no experience with the originals so I don't know how they compare. However, I prefer the altamont roper grips as they fit my hand better. I'm particularly fond of the ones made from olive wood.

I have a 7-round HKS speed loader, but it will not work with Altamont coke replicas.
