Always wanted a Winchester Model 71 .348 and one finally found it's way into my safe!

Congratulations on your M71. It looks great.

I love mine & won't part with it.

Thanks and nice rifle!

That photo sure looks like eastern Washington to me......what part??

We lived in Washington for 30 years and I did a lot of hunting in the Cascades
near Glacier Peak (Buck Creek Pass) on horseback and up in the Winthrop area.

Those photos were central Montana last year. I'm a Montana kid & have always gone home for hunting.

I've actually never hunted anywhere that I was stationed when I was in. I'm retired here now in WA (retired from active duty in 2017 at McChord)

I've thus far had to settle for the Browning made version, in their high grade deluxe version. And while it's a fine rifle it isn't the same and hasn't kept me from looking for an original. Getting the right condition has been a challenge. It's one of my "sooner or later" rifle. Mistake I make is looking at the gun shows. Sometimes I think they're called "gun shows" because that's what alot of folks like to do - show, but not sell. :)

Reno show is coming up in two weeks, we'll see.

There is a really nice condition Browning version for sale locally with an asking price in the $1,095 range......I am tempted to grab it!

Well if it is a Miroku gun.

Then you know it will be a well made gun. I have a bunch of them and have been really happy with them. Sure they are not original US made Winchesters, but for shooters. They are very hard to beat.

Here's mine. Factory bolt peep.

You guys and those beautiful rifles, are about to send me down another rabbit hole of hard to find Winchester! I love the sleek styling and the oil finished wood and blue steel.

What a time to be in an ammo crunch. I bet I could find some dies and molds, and brass doesn't seem too hard to find.

Ohhh *******, I should'a started 30 or 40 years ago. Going to go read some ballistic charts......... just looking now......
