Today I was in the grocery store, as I am almost every day, and noticed their floral shop had roses $6 for a dozen. I'm on that deal!:D I'm on a first name basis with the ladies who work there, because I buy them for The Lovely Missus P&R Fan on a regular basis, just because. I asked one of the ladies if the guys were jumping on that deal. She said mostly women are buying them......for themselves. Why aren't the guys all over that deal? Six bucks and it will reap some nice rewards, if you get my drift.;)
What I want to know is am I the only guy out there who regularly buys his Wife flowers, and not just on the days when he is supposed to? It ain't expensive. Tell me I'm not alone.

While I don't do it as much as I used to when I was working, which
was every week, I still pick up flowers for the wife on a regular basis.

I allows me to skip any of the "man-made" holidays and not get any flak over it. ;)

I NEVER buy roses for my wife. She worked as a Lucky's supermarket florist for about ten years and thinks I'm nuts to buy them for her. so I take her out for lunches to cool places, instead. But that's just our situation. It obviously works for you guys and your wife appreciates the sincerity of it.

You're not alone. I will get my wife flowers just because about once every couple months.

Today's our 9 year anniversary, and she's not tired of it (or me) yet

depends on what you call "regularly". I'm along with CO Kid, but I also have been known to buy her other things, like purses. I was coming back from Jacksonville one day and stopped at the Coach outlet in St. Augustine and bought her a purse. I was the only guy in there that was not with a lady and clearly not forced to be there.

I buy flowers for my wife on a whim...like whenever the mood strikes me, neither one of us believes in celebrating the "Hallmark Holidays". We don't buy cards for each other and choose instead to be kind to one another and take each other out to dinner on special occaisons. The flower market is ridiculus and there are people working for sweat-shop wages and conditions. I choose to buy from local places and am fortunate that my wife appreciates anything from daisys to mums. Its also nice to give your lady something she can plant in the garden rather than something that will wilt and be thrown out or treasurered and dried.

I still bring the Lovely and Charming flowers from time to time, just because I feel like it, and it makes her "feel special." After 22 years of marriage she is still special.

Mary gets a dozen red roses in a vase every June 16th on our anniversary. She insists on having her picture taken with each bouquet. She now has 40 pictures. She gets flowers on other ocassions but roses are exclusive to our anniversary.

I buy my wife ammo every week. I tried the flowers thing but she prefers the ammo. On special occasions she gets a gun.
Last week was our 32nd. We bought a SW642. That was last Thursday. You know that feeling you have when you know it wasn't what she really wanted? Well on friday we were back and she bought a Sig P238...Now she's happy! :)

Gosh, roses are so expensive and I'm just a poor old retired senior citizen on a fixed income.

But, my wife loves flowers, so I had an inspiration as I drove home one day.

Now, a couple of times a week, usually on Monday and Friday afternoons, on the way home from the trap club, I hit the cemetery.

Rarely find any roses, but there's almost always a bunch of beautiful flowers, still fresh and my wife loves them. She thinks I spend too much on her.
 :p

I well remember the first time I bought her a dozen roses, just on a whim. Hey, I thought it was sweet. It was early in our marriage and she was touched. Then about a half hour later she came up, gave me the Hairy Eyeball and said "OK, what did you do?" Uh, nothing...I bought you roses. Sheesh!

I never buy them on Valentines day when they are 50 bucks. That's when the guys who haven't done so all year HAVE to buy them. I don't, cause I have credits built up.

One time I saw a guy in the grocery store who goes to my church who is old enough to be my Dad. His Wife is gorgeous, and I always flirt with her, in front of Missus P&R Fan. I can do that because she's old enough to be my Mother.:D I said to him he should buy his beautiful Wife a flower, as they were only a buck and a half. He hesitated, so I said "look, I'LL pay for it!" Sunday at church he told me she was touched. She was also mad when he told her it was my idea and I paid for it.

I get flowers every few weeks, and she is always touched. But her favorite one was the one I got with a card, complete with poem I wrote. It was at a particularly stressful time in our lives, and the poem I wrote went like this:

"This rose I bought, in fervent hope, to cheer you just a bit.
Cause i just really don't know why, we're going through this *!@#":D

She liked that one.

Go ahead, guys, do it.It WILL pay off.;). Just don't tell 'em I said so.

As with RonJ, roses are special for our anniversary. On our first anniversary, I was a poor E-4/Petty Officer 3rd and could only afford to buy her one red rose. The next year I was floating somewhere in the Med and sent my sister-in-law money to buy her two red roses. Since then, it has become a tradition that the number of roses is based on the anniversary. On our twelfth I bought her a dozen roses. After twelve years I started over with one white rose for each twelve years and one red rose for each single year. At twenty-four years she got two dozen red and at thirty-six she got three dozen red. This past June 7th, she got three white roses and six red roses representing a total of 42 years.

Several years ago, I bought my wife a dozen roses for her birthday. (yea, yea, I know it was a moment of weakness).

She put them in a vase and then my sinuses went haywire. I am allergic to them. She put them out on the patio and I avoided them until they dryed up and were put in the garbage.

Just goes to show you. No good deed goes unpunished.

After 38 years of marriage, I do not get her anything. I told her to buy what she wants and I will buy what I want for my birthday, anniversary, and Christmas.

Oh yea, her birthday was yesterday and I went to the gym.

My birthday was in May and I bought a Kimber Pro Carry II from my brother.

My mom told me when I was 5 that you can never go wrong buying a gal flowers. Personally, I have a hard time seeing the appeal of something that wilts and dies in a few days. But hey, we do it because we spoil them. :)

Random thoughts.

Roses or any other flowers, just die... What good do they do???

If I want to get on the good side of my wife, I buy a few pounds of King Crab legs...

She would MUCH rather have the money spent on King Crab...

The plus side of this is that I get to eat them too...
