Amazing Dan Wesson!

Very nice acquisition. I remember seeing those pistol packs when they first came out - seems like all of the ones that I saw also included a square block of wood that was inlet for the "Grip stub" so that the owner could carve his own handle for the gun. I don't know if all of the pistol packs included that item.

I remember shooting a 15 owned by a friend of mine and being quite taken with the accuracy, so when I saw one at a pawn shop a few years ago I bought it. It had apparently been put away wet a few times as there was surface rust all over it and the barrel was frozen into the shroud and most all of the bluing was gone. I was able to look down the barrel with a bore light along with all the chambers of the cylinder to confirm that there was no pitting in there. I got all of the rust cleaned up and the barrel loose - then I browned the gun and took it shooting. Other than being uglier than home grown sin, the thing shoots like a champ - even though DA is quite a bit different than on a S&W, I find that I get used to it pretty quickly during a range outing.

I picked up a 4" Monson 15-2 some years ago for $350 OTD. The finish has some issues but in it's prime I think it would hold it's own with anything from S&W or Colt, as will it's trigger and accuracy. Just a REALLY fine revolver. The cylinder release is surprisingly easy to get used to.

The secret is out on those, though. Prices have gone up, especially on the pistol packs in great condition.

Not sure if the Commandment says anything about thy neighbor's revolvers but I certainly covet that pistol pack! :D

I’ve been a DW fan since the 80’s, I have 8 pistol pacs in 22LR, 357 and 44. Collectors have discovered the Dan Wessons in the ast 5 years and the prices have climbed. I still look at Gun shows and haven’t seen a pistol pack priced below $2000 in the last year including the Tulsa show in November. $1300 for a complete pistol pac is a really great price.

I have an early model 15 with a 2.25" pork chop barrel shroud. Finish is fair, but I am amazed how accurate it is with that short tube. It's a keeper but quite large for concealed carry. Very large grips with a "W" medallion that I've been unable to ID.

thanks for the $$ evaluation. I'm new to collecting, and so far I want to shoot what I have. I may have to rethink that.
Thank you again

Mine is a Monson built blue 6” model 15-2VR. It is an extremely accurate revolver. I own several very nice Smith & Wessons including a 66 and 686 which are both quite accurate and fun to shoot and I would never sell but the DW easily outshoots them both.

The barrel says 22LR. So,,,,which is it?? I believe what the barrel says!

That picture is not of my revolver. It's just to show the configuration of the barrel shroud that is the same as mine.

Mine is so deep in the safe house ( very seldom shot) that I was too lazy to go dig for it to take a picture.:o

Here is a secret, find a DW in .32H&R mag, have the cylinder bored out to accept .327 mag (don't worry the gun is more than strong enough) and you have an excellent ~L frame sized .327 that is very accurate. I have 4 and 8 inch barrels for mine. You guys don't tell anyone now.
