I've got the AmeriGlo Hackathorn on my Shield and the Pro i-dot on my M&P45 Mid Sized.

Very, very nice. If you don't mind I have a couple of questions, because I'm also thinking of these same sights. :)

(1) - I noticed that one of the guns has the rectangular rear and the other the U shaped. Do you prefer one over the other ? I think the new ones come standard with the rectangular.

(2) - Is the front sight dot much bigger than the stock sight ? Easier to see but is it harder to be accurate at 15 yards ? My aging eyes need a more bright bigger dot but I would like to still shoot at 15 or 20 yards.

(3) - What advantages have you found with these sights over the stock ones ?

As with anything personal preferance rules. I have a set of the Pro-I Dot with the u-notch rear sight and the orange front sight on my 9c. Since I installed them I have found that I am more accurate and have and have better, faster target aquistion. This is just my opinion but I really like them.

1) With the rectangular notch, the front sight doesn't seem to fill in the notch as much as the U shaped sight. There is open space on each side when the front is centered. I think the U shapes allows me to center the front quicker. I have to shoot the 40c more to decide which I like better. At this point, I like both better over the stock sights.

2) I would say the AmeriGlo's are half again as big as the stock front sight. The orange really sticks out compared to the white. I don't shoot out to 15 yards very often with the 40 shield or 40c. These are my carry guns so I practice at the 4 to 7 yard range. At those distances, I find my accuracy is just fine. When I have shot at longer distances, I think I am just as accurate as before, not saying that was so great though. LOL

3)Definitely faster target acquisition.

As far as the night sight aspect, I have only sighted them down a dark hallway. Front and rear were easy to pick up.
