I went to Cabelas in Dundee, Michigan on Tuesday, my god, there were tons of 9mm, in this picture, the top shelf is 45 Auto, the middle and bottom shelf is 9mm, (PMC, Fiocchi, PMC, Winchester, Herters brass). Even though the price is higher than early December (Herters is the cheapest at $14.00 per box).

I went to local Walmart this morning at 10:30AM, the lady said there was nobody waiting for the ammo at 7AM, let me repeat, nobody. and there are still 20-25 boxes of Federal champion left, the 100 round value box is about $22.50. I only grabbed one box, so more people can enjoy the fest!

I would suggest we buy less ammo (not buying at all if you can) so our brothers and sisters (who are under oppresion in NY, CT, CO, CA etc) can buy more, before the stupid rules take effect (where you need background check for buying ammo each time, plus limit on how many you can buy). Everybody in NYS should buy as many as possible to sabotage the henious oppresion imposed on you by thug Cuomo!!!:D

Back to normal? Not around here. I handload so don't buy factory ammo, but it's still pretty scarce, and handloading stuff esp powder is not to be had.
BTW "federal champion" is 22LR? I'm not familiar with this particular round but $22.50/100 doesn't sound back to normal to me. You should be able to get a brick of 22 for that much.

I'm afraid that for too many people "back to normal" means "back to business as usual". And they will buy it only when They go out rather than keeping a stash.

Of course when we go through another shortage after the 2016 elections (when the Dems three-peat), the same folks will caught without.

Not even close......
I just arrived home from a long drive from NJ to Florida and back. I stopped at 7 Walmarts,2 ranges that sell ammo,2 Bass pro shops, and 3 gun shops all in a period of 8 days.
I was not able to purchase 1 box of either 9mm,.38..357 or .45 ammo and came home empty handed.
So your thesis seem to be rather flawed if not overly optimistic.

Perhaps "on the way to returning to normal" would be more accurate. I also was amazed by the amount of available 9mm, 40, 5.56 and other ammo that was @ Cabela's when I was there a couple days ago. However there wasn't any 380 acp, or a couple other calibers. Finding ammo seems to be hit or miss. While I would say it's improving, I'd also say there is quite a ways to go before I'd use "normal" to describe ammo availability.

In spite of what I said, we still need to keep alert, because politicians can strike at any time, just like criminals who will strike at innocent people. No one should let his guard down.

Whenever I see something on the shelf, I will make sure I don't buy off everything, especiall when there are only 2-3 boxes left, please do the same to other people so they can also have ammo to protect them!!!!! BTW, please boycott CTD!!

Sorry to say that things are still pretty bad around here. Walmart has zero, unless you hit the right day before 7:30am. Some LGS will only sell you one box per week.....That's one, not one of each caliber. I do know one about an hours drive which will sell if in stock 2 boxes or each caliber you want. Prices are a bit higher than pre- Connnecticut, but not as bad as what's selling on the internet. Bricks of .22LR are but a memory. Please remember in this state you need a LTC to buy ammo, so i can't bring the wife along to buy with me.

When I was back home in IL last month the Wal-Mart in town was getting in HUGE shipments of .38 spl, .40 S&W, .45 ACP, and even 9mm with smaller quantities of .380, .44 magnum, 5.56/.223, 7.62x39mm, pretty much what one would consider the big sellers. Had lots of 12 and 20 gauge to. My Dad reported this Wal-Mart being very dry but throughout my stay I could tell every time I went to the ammo cabinet it was starting to fill up.

Near the end they received a colossal shipment of several PALLETS of .40 S&W and .45 ACP which took up about a 30 foot section of the middle aisle in front of sporting goods. Never seen anything like it. These were Winchester white box value packs. They also had at least a hundred boxes of Federal 9mm, 100 round champion value packs being sold for about $22 a pop!!!

Me and my pop had an absolute field day, every day, for most of a week. The supply also didn't seem to be moving too fast, I think the market in MY AREA is probably saturated. I considered that a good sign of better days ahead.

I was in the newest Walmrt the other day and the guy stocking the shelves told me that every morning the same bunch are still lined up to buy ammo at 7:30.He also told me the other stores were stocking at random times to give everyone a chance to buy ammo.
While I was there, two security guys took down a thief in the parking lot, several of us old guys gathered around til the Leos showed up.
If life lacks drama, head to Walmart.

You are fortunate.

My Walmart in Fairfax, VA has had ZERO on-shelf Handgun Ammo since January.

I was there last night. Not one bullet for handguns. Cabinet empty except for a few calibers of Rifle.

Personally, I think there's something fishy going on.

I agree. Price has a ways to go, but availability is nearing normality. I'm even starting to see a little bit of recovery in reloading materials, such as powder primers and bullits.

Hell, I even saw a jug of Unique available at Powder Factory. I haven't seen Unique available for months.

Bullseye and W231 still seem to be a big problem though.

Here's to those jerks that bought everything up to sell online at inflated prices losing their asses over the next few months :)

The folks who bought ammo and sold it on line will not lose any money. Worst case they only get what they have in it. Reallocation allows people in all these places where it isn't available to get some. If the price is too high don't pay it. No one's forcing anyone to do anything.

As far as the early birds "not giving anyone else a chance to buy" there is one sure fire cure - get up early and join them. Or sit around waiting for ammo to come knocking on your door. It could happen!

More available around here but you still can't count on walking into LGS and find what you want and certainly not in quantities over a box or two. The exception is 22 lr. I've got a small stash (about 1700 rounds) but it cost me dearly.

This morning I took my wife to breakfast and then sent her on her way out of town for the weekend. I stopped at 2 Walmarts between 6:30 and 7AM and got 9 and 45 in 100 round boxes.

This afternoon around 2PM I went out to buy goodies for tonight's poker fun and stopped at 2 different Walmarts. I got 100 round boxes of 40 and 45. One gentleman I've gotten to know at my "favorite" Walmart told me they had 22LR up until about noon.

Cabelas was stocked to the gills but the prices were slightly higher, I passed.

BTW, looks like 100 round Federal 9mm has increased in price at WMT to $22.47 from $21.37 of last week :(

It's out there people.

Ammo may be available where you live but it sure isn't in Kansas. Specifically 9MM

I live in Kansas.....went to the local Cabela's last weekend....bought 500 rounds of winchester white box .45....first time I've seen any for months....still no .22....

Semper Fi!

No way it's back to normal! Shelves are practically empty & when in stock prices are still ridiculous!

I am seeing ammo become more readily stocked in all my LGS and Wallychina. If fact most of them are fully stocked, but me and other smart people are not buying the **** because price's are still stupid high. 9mm for 14.00-15 a box, 20.00 a box for 38 special, 22.00 a box for 45acp, 40.00 a box for 22lr 525 bulk they can go pound sand. When 38 special is 14-15 a box, 45acp 17-18 a box and 9mm is 10-11 a box, and 55 bulk 22lr is 15.00 a box, then I will be buying again. If they don't come back to those price's, I will reload.
