I don't know about you guys, but I am getting a ton of emails from SGAmmo, BulkAmmo etc. and when I check they have ammo in stock. I always look at the 1k round count for popular calibers and see big numbers like 70 or 80 ready to ship. It is expensive, but it is there.

I won't be buying any because I don't need it. I also heard there were 1MM background checks indicating August was another record month of gun buying.

I think the supply is coming back and people must still be buying even at these prices.

Time will tell.

The prices are down about 10% on the most popular calibers, e.g., 9mm from $0.45-$0.40 (shipping and/or tax included). I believe another 10% cut will come by late next month. After that it will probably hold while the Russian ammo ban effect on the market shakes out.

Next January, one more 10% cut, and that will be as low as it will go until all shelves (and garages) are stocked. I don’t think it will ever reach pre-pandemic prices again.

If you are short on stocks and need some, buy now. Who knows when the next government move will hit and drive prices back up.

Expensive ammo is better than no ammo.

SGAmmo's bulk prices are dropping. I've bought from Sam for years, but not recently. Happy that he's still in business after the past 18 months.

I have bought quite a few thousand rounds from them over the years as well. It makes it simple and their shipping is reasonable. I am curious to see if Tula still gets to them and are available to us. I have used a bunch of their 9 and .45 steel cased ammo jus because it was so cheap. Still have some around that if I get out will get used.

Well, I’m starting to look less stupid after all. I said a couple of months ago to look for nine mm to be back to about 35-37 cents per round. It may go a little lower, but I seriously doubt we’ll see that in the next 6 months or so. I hope I’m wrong though!

Lots of ammo on the shelves around here, but the prices are still prices are still 2x what they were pre-pandemic.

I'm sure there are plenty of new gun owners willing to pay those prices.

The current ammo prices suck, but when they started talking about eliminating the Russian ammo I decided I better get off the pot... that extra couple hundred bucks will not break the bank, but it will help me relax a little bit. I've been screwing around trying to find a "deal" on .223 for over a year but now it sounds to me like things are only going to get worse. So..... I just spent $570 on a case (delivered) of brass ammo. I imagine the price will nose dive any day now, so......... your welcome :-)

You are not kidding when you say it's expensive. My goodness it's high.

500 rounds of Federal 45 Auto for $724, 1000 rounds of IMI 124gr 9mm for $880! Sorry, not for me but thanks for posting.

Jeez, I bought 500 rounds of IMI HP 115 gn from MIDWAYUSA 6 weeks ago for $185 with free shipping. Went to a local gun show this weekend and there was LOTS of ammo. One dealer had ridiculous prices the other dealer seemed more reasonable. Since I'm a re loader for most cartridges I don't know if the prices were that bad. But when one table is selling name brand 45 ACP for $55 and the other guy has the same brand for $35 I know one is crazy. Didn't see any mass buying of the ammo either. Most people browsed the prices and moved on.

DON'T BUY..............

Just as a reminder, pre pandemic a case of 9mm (1000rnds) cost me $185 to my door from a buddy who had bought 6 cases and didn't know what to do with it all. And I only have one 9mm gun :-)

DON'T BUY...........

J.

Both CCI and Federal are selling ammunition direct with free shipping, if you spend so-much. I recently received a bunch of CCI .22 Vellocitor rounds:

I have a case of Federal 115 grain 9 mm 1000 rounds being delivered to my home tomorrow for a total of $365 from C&H Precision Weapons. That’s less than $.37 around.

I bought 4 500-round cases of CCI Velocitor .22LR last week at Scheels. About $50/case OTD, or $0.10/rnd for top quality ver high velocity 40 grn HP ammo. Also two 50 rnd box’s of Norma 44 Mag for $47 ea. Decent price for now.

Deals are out there if you look carefully.

I don’t know who’s charging $880 for a similar 9mm product now but I would certainly look elsewhere.

I get daily emails from Ammo Depot. Looks like 9mm, 5.56 and 22lr are down, but about everything else is still silly high, e.g., $90 for 50 rds of Federal 357 mag 145 JHP.

Been seeing 50 rd Winchester 115 9mm @ $18.99 and 20 rd 223 for $13.99 as Bass Pro.
