Ammo Availability

DON'T BUY..............

Just as a reminder, pre pandemic a case of 9mm (1000rnds) cost me $185 to my door from a buddy who had bought 6 cases and didn't know what to do with it all. And I only have one 9mm gun :-)

DON'T BUY...........

J.

Im with you. Wait until it's 185 again.

When it is, could you please PM me, if you're still alive?

FYI. C&H Precision Weapons shows “back order” on some popular loads. This is different than “out of stock” as they know when ammo is coming and at what price. IOW, you can pre-order what you want at a good price and wait 3-4 weeks for delivery. That can save you ~$0.10/rnd. 1000x $0.10 = $100. Worth it.

Better to buy now (wisely) than be without.

Both CCI and Federal are selling ammunition direct with free shipping, if you spend so-much. I recently received a bunch of CCI .22 Vellocitor rounds:

I've ordered from Federal (10 mm and 9mm) and got it a couple of weeks or so later. The prices seemed to be reasonable.

I’m not naive enough to think prices are going to drop to pre-pandemic. I fully expect and accept prices are going to be higher. What was once a $185 case of 9MM shouldn’t rise to more than $230, and that’s a 25% increase. I’m prepared to go from $39.99 a brick of primers to $55-$60, which is a steep increase. A brick of primers lasts me a while and I’m not going to miss the extra $20 now and then if it allows me to continue to enjoy my hobby.

But nobody can tell me our buddies in the ammo industry who profess to be so pro 2A aren’t taking advantage of the situation and screwing us. I don’t care how many videos of pallets of ammo they want to put on YouTube. The new gun buyer excuse is played out. There are no more lines outside gun stores with people buying anything they can. Those new gun buyers have bought their overpriced box or two already. So I’m not buying anything right now. I have enough primers to keep me loading for a short while. I’ve decreased shooting rather than play this game.

There were 1MM instant background checks done in August - those buyers are still in line -may not be around the building but there is a line.

I bought two guns in August and not one round of center fire ammo. Not all background checks go to new gun buyers. Funny how the shelves aren’t bare of guns anymore. Just ammo.

On two recent visits to Academy Sports I've bought the 4 box maximum purchase of Blazer 9mm 50 round/box aluminum case for $14.99 box.

That's 400 rounds of range fun as far as I'm concerned.

I'll add that I part time at a gun store/range and we have pallets of 9mm, but the cheapest they sell it for is $24.99 box. Probably why we still have so much.

I agree CB3. While there's a time and place for dry firing, it's not that much fun with an AR-15. At my age this "extra" 1000 rounds should put me in good shape for life. It was the only weak link in my ammo supply so hoping the prices will come down just isn't worth taking that chance to me. I was never that good at gambling.

Well, you will all be relieved to hear that Midway currently has no less than 4 (FOUR!) different 338 Lapua Magnum loadings available, ranging from $22.50 (!) to a mere $6.25 per round...!

Cheers!

With the brass (when available?) going for about $3 each, that last one is almost a bargain?

Local wally worlds have quite a lot of assorted ammo. Fed. 22, CCI 22 Mag, 30-30, 6.5 Creed., 308 and lots of assorted shotgun shells, even 28 Ga.
