Decided to hit garage sales today with the wife, on the 4th one I found a box near the back with old holsters, I asked the guy if he had anything else gun related, he said over here, to which I found 3.5 cases of 40S&W 180gr FMJ-FP. After a bit of haggling, I ended going home with it all for 11 bucks a box, also found an old ESSO pump globe and the wife found some old british aluminum baking pans.

Nice find! I would hit more garage sales but then the wife would want to go and we would spend way more than paying full retail on line for ammo.

When skulking the yard sales, you always have to ask if they have any guns that they want to sell. I've added a couple of nice guns to my collection that way. Most people don't like to advertise that they have guns, at least around me, so they sometimes need a little prodding.

Not long ago, at the local flea market, which is usually populated by the same people with the same stuff, hence my willingness to hit it once a month or so I came across a vendor selling next to the Central American fruit and veggie stand, the guy had box after box after box of factory handgun boxes, I asked him his price he said he was asking 10 bucks each but no bites and as it was Sunday, he didn't want to take em home. He told me if I buy em all, around 50 total, he'd let me have em for 5 bucks each. I figured at best, I could sell them in forums and people would love to have an OEM factory box for that one gun they own that has no factory box. I got home and started going thru them and to my amazement they were all boxes for semi auto's, but it's the 2 to 3 mags in each box that got my attention as well as the gun locks. As I'm usually a magazine black hole, each mag went into the mag bin appropriate for it after cleaning and vacuum sealing. The mags I didn't have guns for were cleaned and vacuum sealed and put into the misc bin.

I've two daughters. Between the 2 daughters and my wife there must be ten sets of stainless steel cookware floating around between them. Wife came home just after Christmas with a whole set of cookware. Now we have enough pots and pans to cook on or with to feed the whole neighborhood. Told the wife she has enough stuff she won't be buying any pots and pans anytime soon. She has a couple favorites that are just for her. Makes one or two eggs, fry up a couple sausages in another frying pan. Stuff like that, pantry where she keeps the pots and pans is overflowing. I scarfed all the old cookie trays and use them in the shop mostly for my leaky Chinese band saw. Catches
the drips when I use an oil can both for lubrication in the gearbox and lubrication on cutting something. When done I hang them on cup hooks and wipe them down with a rag. Frank

I've found a safe way to do it, ask if there are any sporting goods, "fishing/hunting stuff?" Usually a "no" answer, but I've come across milsurps and an M-1 Garand that were not displayed openly.

I too used to come across loads of handguns and rifles, but now in this blankety blank state, there are no more private transfers, it all has to be done by an FFL.
