What would be a good suggestion for 640 pro to shoot point of aim?I am not having much luck!

Mine seems pretty close with 158 grain 38 specials. I was shooting low with the 125's.

I don't know specifically about the 640 Pro, but S&W zeroes their J-frames for 158gr loads at 7 yards.

Most people shooting J-frames report consistent POA/POI with 158gr loads.

I haven't found much of a difference between 130-135gr loads and 158gr loads, but most of my shooting is inside 10 yards.

I don't know if there's much, if any, difference between .38 Special and .357 Magnum.

It might help if you could give us more details, like make/caliber/weight/etc. of the ammo you've been using, what distances you've been shooting, and what differences you're seeing between each type of ammo.

I've shot 158gr wadcutters 125gr round nose 135gr gold dots all shot 3 to 4 inches low!

Just a note, most ammo will not shoot exactly to POA=POI, that is a fact. This is why we practice, to learn our SD handgun. I know my S&W M442 shoots 2" high and 3" to the right. I adjust my POA to compensate for that like most shooters using a fixed sight revolver.

Yes I know some sighting in can be done but I'm not always going to use the same ammo like with my SA revolvers.

Right on....... !!

Most small 38's don't have adj. rear sights ....
until you get into the K frames.

Kentucky windage is a must.

If you are that low with 158 grain ammo, chances are that it might not be the ammo's fault. Double check your sight picture with that 640. Mine is right on POA with 158 grain. Maybe a little color,(fingernail polish works well and is easy to change), on the top portion of the sight might help.

Although I would prefer all my guns shoot to point of aim, I'm not too concerned if POI is a couple of inches off in a handgun that would be used at 7 yards or less. Applying Kentucky windage during a high stress situation probably won't happen.
