Ammo hoards

As I was watching a news story about the amount of ammo that some perp had stored in his home. The reporter seemed astounded that the guy had close to a thousand rounds. That may seem like a lot to some but to a shooter that isn't that great of an amount of ammo to have on hand particularly, if it involves several calibers.
Have any of you ever thought about the amount of ammunition that you have and how the public media would portray you?

Yeah, I think that a lot of us would be on the six o'clock news if one of the talking heads got a look at the ammo locker.

I know how I portray the public media. I don't really give a flip how they would portray me, anymore than the way Hezbollah would portray me.

Yeah. We were watching the news one night, and in one particular story, the newscaster shows a picture of some guns and ammo, while carrying on about the "arsenal" of weapons the perp had. It consisted of a shotgun, 22 rifle, deer rifle, and maybe some sort of handgun, and a few boxes of ammunition for each.
My wife turned to me and asked what in the world would they say if they searched our house??!!?

A close friend from NYC asked me to take him and his new girlfriend shooting and since I introduced him to the sport I was glad to.
While running the young lady through the gun and range safety steps I happened to open my closet where I keep my gear and ammo and with a sharp intake of breath she asked if the cops knew I had so much ammo and wasn't it unlawful to have so much?
I could only smile and added "The only crime is that I didn't have the foresight to buy more when I had the opportunity"

I use to count all my ammo once a week. So i knew about how much of each caliber I had and which ones I should order more of. Lately i've been adding a little too much .300 blackout to my ammo collection. So counting it once a week would me more of a waste of time to me.

Every time i think i have just enough. My LGS calls me and gives me a price on ammo that I can't refuse. So there I go back into town buying a couple more hundred rounds.

Many reporters would refer to some of the stashes "amounts" members have as " greater than the arsenals of many small countries.

Feel sorry for those countries...they should have stocked up!

i try to stay a month or so ahead with a 2000 ctg rotation, and maintain an 800 rnd buffer with 38 spl. usually have 4-500 rnds of 44 on hand, same with 357 .if i dont keep reloading i will run out all too soon. i load all this on a single stage too! im rebuilding a dillon 450 as we speak, itll be finished eventually(sigh)
i load 44s for a buddy and he loads 45s for me ,so i get those as i need them... oh yes, i try to keep at least 500 rnds of 22 ahead of my current stock in the range box
oh yes, i have components for months in advance but im looking for a source of pure lead/no.2 alloy now

With all the high handed "investigations" being leveled at the media you'd think they would get the picture. How close to shutting down the 1st amendment do they need before they realize their favorite amendment is under attack?
